Love the market, lived there practically every day, plenty of fresh vegies and fruit, fish is worth buying and bbqing it. Lived on all the fresh produce, have a walk around the back and meet the local firewood choppers and leaf hut makers. They are such hard workers and work bloody hard for their daily food etc. They have to get there at about 4am to get a spot, i was there for the F.O.P.A and saw them arriving one morning. No security so be careful. Dont be a gross ugly tourist and go click happy with your camera, before asking, its obnoxious and rude, exactly what you dont want them to think about you.

The Central Market is a must see in Honiara, stalls selling everything from fruit and vegetables, to fish and interesting mementos of the Islands. The local people in the market were so friendly and helpful and, provided we asked, didnt mind being photographed. Go early in the morning to see the wonderful array of flowers. At the back of market behind the Fish stalls is the dock - more photograph opportunities.

The Central Markets is a great place to visit. On sale is a huge quantity of fresh fruit and veges as grown and eaten by the locals. You'll also find fresh fish (sold whole and by the pound), some seafood, local handicrafts like shell money, necklaces and clothing. There are some stalls selling cooked food. The fish and chips are great and the bean cakes are delicious. There are ring cakes (similar to a donut) and some buns and pancakes. You'll notice a taste difference as they don't use sugar but they still taste good. We visited most days to get fresh food for our short stay. Stop and talk with the stall holders to learn something about them and their beautiful country.
