Very interesting but expensive as you have to not only have a $50 Rock Island permit but a Jellyfish permit also of $50

“spooky but enchanting!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2014

I was immediately impressed by the solitude; having expected hoards of tourists and souvenir shop, etc.
There was a simple hut where they checked your entry ticket (minimal cost) then wooden boarding and steps up and over a crest.
There was the lake!
A small jetty is handy for changing, then in you go (but gently) The jellyfish are normally well spread across the lake but most concentrated in sunny patches - there the water is golden orange.
I was half expecting the first jellyfish to sting even though I'd been told they were stingless! and as you slowly swim or snorkel through them, their beauty takes hold of you- they are amazing- every size from 5mm to 100mm, they pulse in every direction- really quite spooky but serene!

Take as long as you can in there- we saw some visitors go in and out in under ten minutes- we had an hour and I could've stayed longer- you certainly need more than ten minutes to be able to swim to the concentrated areas full of thousands of jellyfish.

Truly amazing and something I will never forget!

“So peaceful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2014

Getting their first thing in the am before the crowds is the best. Remember to bring shoes and a camera for the hike up and over the hill and for the jellies.

“Snorkeling with yellow Jellyfish”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

Palau is an ecological paradise in the World. Jellyfish Lake is located in the area Rock Islands. Permit fee is expensive but Palau is expensive country. Jellyfishes are in the middle area of lake. Take your mask and snorkel. Water is cooler then in ocean. Swimming is without problem.

snorkel with 9 million (from official statistic survey) of jellyfish which won't stun you, what could be better?
