This is fine for a basic hotel. Price is certainly right (I paid $70 a night). Bed was really firm. Sun heats up the rooms and the lobby area (but, the AC in the rooms work well). Pretty standard room, overall. Internet is REALLY slow, but it is everywhere in Palau. Breakfast was included, and they have a variety of items to pick from (omelettes, pancakes, french toast, etc.). Pool is up a flight of stairs and worth the climb -- possibly the best part of the place. There isn't a lot to walk to from Cliffside - not really any restaurants. So, plan to have a car, hire and cab, or eat at their restaurant. You can get free day passes to the Palau Pacific Resort and you can enjoy their amenities - GREAT pool, beach, snorkeling, cafe. The staff at Cliffside was helpful and cheerful, but all the postcards we left for them to mail (inlcuding cash to cover the postage) did not arrive in to the US.

I would highly recommend Cliffside hotel - the location is convenient to all directions that you may want to travel, the hotel is clean, the staff is amazing and every attention to detail was given to our stay which was a total of 8-nights.
We stayed in the veranda room (1st floor). The room itself was very large and bright. Sure it could have used a little bit of renovating, but when you're staying in a country with a lot of humidity...what do you expect? It was clean, clean, clean and the veranda was swept at the very least once per day. The beds were comfortable and the linens were changed daily.
The food at Turtle Cove was excellent and the quantity was huge! The blackened sashimi was mouth watering! Depending on the catch, which I was told happened twice per week, versus going to the market/pier.....the fish varied. The reef & turf served a massive tuna steak, perfectly cooked. The beers were always cold and were an even better deal during happy hour, which was a couple of hours long! The service from Frank, both our bartender and morning server was great! We rented a car and he and his girlfriend came along as our guide - which was a total saving for tour of the island....and we really did cover most, if not all of the island!
I would recommend a visit to the Etipson museum - it had great info about the history of Palau and its people. Also, the quality of souvenirs and price was much better at their gift shop.
A trip to jellyfish lake and the milkway is highly recommended - they are both unique and memories that are irreplaceable.
Another major bonus to Cliffside was the fact that guests could use PPR (Palau Pacific Resort), a sister hotel, which was much pricier. The beach was great, and the grounds of PPR were immaculate. Drinks & food were also pricier. There is a shuttle that runs between the two hotels, and on a hot, humid day, it is very much appreciated, especially the little climb back up....just remember that the shuttle service ends at 5 p.m.

Room Tip: the veranda rooms are a great choice - you can enjoy a view of the water and the peace of the jungle...

~We stayed for one night as we had a very early flight and we wanted to try out The Palau Pacific Resort, (at the time when we stayed you get day passes to Palau Pacific Resort). The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The room decor was bright red, my hubby said it looked like a bordelo...LOL. Definitely in need of a renovation, but I guess that's why the cheaper price. The room & bathroom were a good size. I hear the food in the restaurant is delish, we were told this by some other guests. We would stay here again as the price is right for Palau.

This was our 3rd trip to Palau to dive. We were catching a liveaboard and needed overnight accommodations the day of arrival and a day-room before catching the plane home. Previously we have stayed at the Palau Pacific Resort, a wonderful resort in Palau, but pricey. Cliffside is about half the price, and yes, maybe half the quality. The hotel is dated and they appear to be gradually refurbishing it. The rooms are small by current standards. Everything was clean. BUT you get 1 pillow per person, no in-room coffee, no hair-dryer, no elevator, etc. There is a refrigerator. And a nice view from the deck. The AC "works" but not adequately even when turned to 17 degrees (Celsius).

Hopefully the new owners (Neco Marine) will bring the quality up to Neco's usual standards over the next year or so.

Can I recommend it? Yes, as a 2-3 star hotel, but clean and reasonably priced for Palau.

I stayed at the Cliffside before and after a Palau Aggressor dive trip. The rooms are clean and air conditioned. The views are good. Passes to the Palau Pacific Resort (a half a mile away) were available.

Most of the patrons are either people going to and from live aboard dive trips or Japanese families with young children. Expect some noise from the families.

The restaurant is adequate for breakfast, but lunch did not look as good, so I ate lunch elsewhere.

Airport transfers are provided by the Palau Pacific Resort's bus.

Room Tip: The rooms with balconies are preferred if you want to set out wet clothing to dry.

Nice hotel which worked out really well for our dive vacation in Palau. Big rooms, beds were firm, clean. Nice shower. Pool was nice although it only got direct sun until about 2:30. Hotel staff friendly and very accomodating. Nothing really in walking distance but cabs and the hotel shuttle were good. Food at the restuarant was good to.

Arrived on Christmas eve night and while they had a Christmas tree decorated and music playing, it was a bit depressing as it was just an ok hotel. Though, from what I can tell, there are not many luxury resorts on the island. The good news is that you can get a day pass for the Palau Pacific, so I spent Christmas day there.

Rooms were large yet basic. Not many bathroom amenities.

That said, the staff was very nice and helped with several requests. If you are okay with basic accommodations, it would be fine to stay at.
