“Nice location but heavily overpriced”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

We spend 5 days on Palau. First of all it is a very expensive island in general. Since we wanted a comfortable stay we booked PPR. The beach is really nice since alternative beaches are limited. The concierges were great, friendly and helpful. The rooms are outdated, a shower curtain and showering in the bath tub, should not be in these hotels. What was good is that your towels are renewed in the evening. The breakfast buffet is ok even though I would expect a fresh juice to be complimentary but a charge of USD 12 per glass applies which is ridiculous. We wanted to dive for some days but this was not possible in the diving facilities in the hotel, it was full. PPR could be more proactive in informing their customers on the limited capacity. Finally one thing that was really disappointing on the check out. Most flights leave Palau at night. Ours also so we wanted a late checkout, we needed to pay a full room rate of USD 440 which I felt was very customer unfriendly!!! Especially since our hotel in Yap did not charge at all!!! I think this is just misusing the circumstances, I am ok paying an amount but a full charge is robbery!

I stayed here for a week on business with my team in December 2011. I have no idea why I did not review it then but I am making up for it now. This is a beautiful hotel with fantastic customer service. The breakfast buffet was great but it was expensive. This is something I have come to expect in the South Pacific islands. I ate supper at the hotel 2 or 3 times and it was great. Again, it was expensive. I bought groceries in town to make sandwiches for the other nights. There is a great burger trailer next to the baseball field in town for a quick lunch. Internet access was slow and very expensive but when you are on business you do what you have to do to do business. Just look out the window and remember where you are and it is easier to pay for it. My room was large, comfortable, and very clean.

Wanderfull hotel with private beach and a very good restaurant. The only "problem" is the the hotels seems to be prepared mainly to cater for Japonese guests, even some information is only in Japonese.
Onyway is the best hotel of Palau, but far.

I was worried about my expectations for this hotel based in the high price but having returned back I consider it as a secundary aspect. The place is awesome, the beach, the swimming pool, the service, the sunsets are first class. I don't regret to have choosen PPR.
Either you are a diver or not you will enjoy the beach. This hotel has the best snorkeling place I ever seen, you will see most of the fish you can spot diving with the exception of the big ones. The family expended hours and hours enjoying it,we even saw sea turtles and I also found a lionfish when diving in the same beach with Splash dive center.
The staff is one of the best trained I met in APAC, always with sincere smiling. Special mention to Josè from the recreation team, he is a never ending source of kindness and energy. Great job.
About the room, it was big enough to accomodate a family of four, we were in a garden view and it was pretty ok. The only thing to improve is the bathtube that should be replaced asap by a big shower place (bathroom looked a bit outdated).
The funny thing in Palau is that there are so many great things to do that the beachfront at the hotel is almost empty the whole day, even at the sunset time. Enjoy it.
We hope we can return someday to this paradise.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms can be noisy and lacking privacy. Garden view rooms are mostly very quiet and the v...

Beautiful resort, good food, nice staff, felt very safe, hated the rooster crowing ever morning. Be prepared Palau does not have a good internet system. It was very cool to have the dive boat pick us up at the hotel dock and drop us off at the hotel dock each day.

Stayed here for a week. The hotel is very nicely laid out and the rooms are very good and modern. There are good facilities with tennis courts, swimming pool, spa and beach. The restaurant was a little disappointing - the menu was smallish (along with the serves) and I often founds that dishes were unavailble when I ordered. The prices were high and they charged for everything... The other problem with the hotel is its isolation from the main town - you need to organise transport.
While it's possibly the best hotel in the area, I've chosen the Sea Passion for my next trip due to it's more central location (to town and Sams dives Centre) and price...

Room Tip: Try and get a room away from the main areas and at the end of the causeways. However if this hotel...

Does not matter if your main purpose is diving or just staying and relaxing, this hotel serves it all and in very high standard.
Also a popular place for weddings.
Would love to come back again and again.

Room Tip: Go for sea view or the rooms on the side with the view to the park and little lakes with fishes.
