This is a small museum with both outdoor and indoor exhibits. The museum building itself houses displays highlighting Palau's Spanish, German, Japanese & American history along with a historical timeline that places the displays in context. The grounds feature a traditional Palauan Bai, or men's meeting house, some WW2 relics, and a botanical garden. There are also a small snack bar and gift shop.

The museum is small and has some interesting stuff but you need quite a bit of time to be able to read all the information. There is more information and photos than artifacts, so if you are happy to read, read and read, then this is the place for you.

Don't get me wrong, we thoroughly enjoyed it, but to totally get the most out of it, you have to be prepared to read.

Shop at museum is quite cheap for items.

Its a great way to learn about the history of Palau, be prepaired for alot of reading.
It only takes 45 mins to go around the exhibition if you read half.
The souvenir shop there, are way cheaper than the shops in town!

This is a great first stop in Palau as it explains much of the history of the island. It is very walkable from the center of town .When we visited there was a wonderful pottery exhibit and the gift shop is excellent. We highly recommend it for your jetlag day!

I learned more about Palau in an hour there than I did in the two weeks I was there. I went in primarily to get out of the heat. $5 well spent.
