“Could do better.”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

The architecture is superb and, obviously, this centre has not been done on the cheap. However there was no-one there to explain things and even their shop was closed. Brilliant photographic exhibition of "Faces". Our opinion was that there was much more in the New Caledonia museum in the city and it was a long way out of town for so little. However admission was free for over-60's.

“Just Amazing”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

What a unique statement in Contemporary Architecture.
The 10 stylised melanesian houses are just breathtaking.
You have to see it to appreciate the Centre

“Great building”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

This is a must see for people interested in the Kanak culture and building design. It is quite a long way out of Noumea, but the bus service is good and quite frequent, good idea to get info from the tourist people.

“A bit dead and anyone to get there”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

The Centre was beautifully built and is an amazing piece of architecture but there was no one there on the day and there is really just a few exhibits, the art exhibition was nice and a garden exhibit to walk around. Even the bookshop was closed. It took us nearly an hour on the Explorer bus to get there so it was quite a lot of effort for what was there.

“Tjibaou Cultural Centre Noumea”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

I recently visited whilst in port on Carnival Spirit. I booked a mini bus with a local woman at the cruise terminal. They drove us up to the centre (15 min) and picked us up about an hour later. The centre has quite striking architecture and is pleasant to stroll thru .The location is very nice. The Kanak outdoor culture walk is good. The village with huts was interesting. The exhibits indoors were OK. All in all a nice morning activity.
