This is more of an art gallery than a cultural center. However, the exhibitions and displays were very good. Pretty good value for only AU $5 per adult to get in. If you want guided tours or to watch a cultural performance you will need to book in advance and it cots a little more.

Wasn't a lot of information about the local Kanak people - would have preferred more and it would have been good to hear their traditional music -even if by CD and any other traditions etc.

Most of the rooms were displaying art work from other islands , Samoa, Tonga, Fiji as well as many audio visual training rooms etc.

Great building design and loved the traditional huts.

It would be good to know how the Kanak people are being looked after today - hopefully they receive free education right through to university. Would like to know what passport they travel on and hope they have the same rights if not more than the French.

We have been to many cultural centres in the pacific and have to say we were very disapointed with this. We went on a Sunday and discovered that no food is available. Thats fine but it should say in the brochure because when you travel with a diabetic you have to factor in these things.
The disapointing aspect for us was that it was all photographic and modern art. Although the photos were interesting we wanted to know more about the history and tradition of the place and we were offered an exhibition of Taiwanese art which might have been good had we wanted to see that. The trip was a waste of time and almost empty. What a shame because the architecture of the building itself is stunning and well concieved.

It was an interesting and inexpensive ride on the local #40 bus from Noumea town centre to this attraction. An amazing place architectually, would have explpored grounds if not for wet weather. The only disappointment was the very good gift shop was closed on a non public holiday (despite sign re being open out), but the attendant just shrugged and said 'oh it is holiday time' - hard to fathom in peak tourist time!

This was the architectural highlight of our trip as I am an architect. I am very impressed that New Caledonia would commissioned an excellent architect, Renzo Piano to design this Cultural Centre. It is a very well designed space and the scheme is superior over the other finalists!
