“A great day trip. Wish it had been longer.”

We went to Amedee Lighthouse Island while on a cruise. The time just went by too quickly and we didn't get time for everything we would have liked to do.

I'd suggest going snorkelling (there is a moderate cost) when you first get there (before lunch) and doing the glass bottom boat and reef after lunch. You can get some great photos of the island when on the reef boat ride. A walk to the top of the light house will provide you with great views.

The local lunch was so much more than I needed.

Many people don't go to the back of the Island but personally I believe that you should do a walk around the entire island.

Don't worry about the snakes. They are at the bases of most trees and don't bother you unless you bother them first. Their fangs are at the back of their throat so you would need to stick your finger down their throat to be poisoned!

This was my 3rd time to Noumea (on cruises) and this was EASILY the best tour that I have been on in Noumea.

The bathroom facilities are limited and extremely modest so best to have your bathers on before your arrive on the island and limit your trips to the toilets.

I would recommend to anyone.

“A must !!”

If you are in Noumea and have time, you should definitely meet the "Phare Amedée". It is not expensive, and everything is great there. The trip to the coral reef, the food, the ambiance, the turquoise water, the island is just amazing, go check it out I say !!

“Perfect day trip”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

We did a day trip with the Mary D to Amedee Lighthouse Island on our recent stay in Noumea. It was a jam packed day full of great activities and relaxation. The Mary D have a really good itinerary of glass bottom boat tips (where we saw many turtles and tropical fish), a reef boat tour (where we saw reef sharks!) and generous buffet lunch with French wine. The climb up the lighthouse is not for the faint-hearted if you are afraid of heights but the view from up top is worth it. This trip is not cheap - cost us about NZD200 each for the day but no regrets, was a fabulous day.
