I highly recommend the snorkeling tour and visit to Amedee Island with Aquanature. The company was very professional. They had excellent equipment, took us to amazing snorkeling stops (where we were broken in to small groups, each with our own guide), and provided us with snacks throughout the day. In between the two snorkeling stops they took us to Amedee Island where we were able to relax and do some easy offshore snorkeling. On request, a delicious box lunch was provided.

The Mary D Amedee Lighthouse tour is a day-out well worth the price. A 45 minute high-speed catamaran trip (each direction) to the outer barrier reef was pleasant and not to rough. The island is delightful and the entertainment put on is great.

Strumming singers seem to accompany you during the whole trip. Upon arrival the 120 or so people with us started heading for the beach to claim locations, shade, and chairs. So beware, don't be late on arrival for that.

There is a glass bottom boat tour three times a day. The big catamaran goes out to the actual barrier reef once a day and there we saw sharks, large fish, green turtles. They say that one can see dolphins and rays, but on our day, we saw none.

Back on the island at 11:45 they started a buffet lunch that was spectacular. I wouldn't have thought that they could feed that many people quickly, but it went well and the food was in abundance both in variety and quality. Red wine, white wine, rum punch, fruit juice, and water were all available and it seemed as much as you wanted.

Snorkeling gear was available (but beware of broken breathing tubes (the snorkel itself). Cost for that was extra, but very reasonably priced.

Bring sun glasses and sunscreen. The sun is intense, and the water and white sand reflects everywhere. It is bright on the island.

Finally, there is the free self-tour of the light house. Over 200 steps up to the top makes for a bit of exercise and the spiral staircase is fairly continuous with no breaks for metres and meters in the middle section, so don't fall! The view at the top is spectacular.

P&O Cruise Pacific Jewel, tour booked through cruise. This was our 3rd visit to Noumea last visits we had tours around the City and surrounds and was not impressed. Amedee 45 min by ferry has has left us with a memory new image of Noumea as a destination. A fantastic full day tour.
The white sands and the clear waters, the light house, and abundance of marine life to explore by snorkel or glass bottom boat all part of tour (BYO flippers and gear or hire). You can walk around the island in less than an hour.
The lunch BBQ with entertainment and rum punch or non- alcohol drinks is very satisfying. The tour cost is great value for a full day with bus and ferry transfers and the lunch and entertainment. Highly recommend

This is an excellent all-day trip, which is well worthwhile.

While it is not inexpensive, it is a total day trip package- with no extra to spend.

You set off in the morning on the Mary D ferry- a modern ship with comfortable seating and bar service.

It takes about 45 minutes to reach the island.

Once you are on the island, there's a variety of things to do:

1. Snorkelling or swimming in the clear waters
2. Lay on the beach- they provide deck chairs for you, and the are shady areas as well
3. Take the glass bottom boat cruise (included in the price)- about 30 minutes
4. Go on the reef cruise (again, included in the price)- about 30 minutes
5. Enjoy the gourmet buffet lunch, which includes wine
6. Watch the shows- including local dancers, a palm tree climb and singing
7. Walk around the island- takes about 15 minutes
8. Climb the historic 1865 lighthouse- it's over 200 steps- but worth it for the view!
9. Look around the small souvenir shop- post a postcard at the local postbox
10. Relax and enjoy the sunshine :)

The organisers of this tour are very professional- everyone on our trip thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

By the way, you'll encounter a significant number of friendly French tourists; the tour operators cater for both French and English speaking visitors.

Highly recommended, for a relaxing and enjoyable day tour.

This is well worth doing. The staff are excellent and ensure that a great day is had by all. The lunch was delicious as is the entertainment. The day runs smoothly and there is plenty of time for snorkelling or just pure relaxation!
