“Great place to kick back and relax”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

Le Meridien was a nice place to relax, grab some sun and be a base for a week long stay in Noumea. She must have been the place to stay but is a little tired and in need of a freshen up!. Still next door is the refurbished Chateau Royale. Stayed there 30 yrs ago and she looks great. There is hope for this place. The staff are great. Love the pool and Beach. Pool cocktails need some work...bar wa fine. Good breakfast.

A nice hotel in a great location but a tired old lady she is. Everything is overdue for a make over. The rooms are dated but spacious with the smallest TV's I have seen in 10 years. The outside of the hotel is also well overdue for some love with rust stains and peeling paint everywhere. The gardens and ponds are very pretty but the staff is without doubt the highlight. ALL are very polite and helpful with a wonderful sense of humour. The room service menu is very underdone and mostly tasteless. The buffet restaurant is the highlight but expect to pay around US$100 pp plus drinks, very expensive. Would I stay here again?? Probably not but that suggests its worse than it is. Have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with its great location and staff making our stay very pleasant. Anse Vata bay is just stunning and if you get a room near the ocean, the daily movements of the tide is an absolute highlight. Again a real lack of English TV spoiling the quiet nights in with only BBC world news, TCM and Australian ABC available. Perhaps a result of the overdue need for a complete refurbishment of slow Internet, TV and room facilities. Trips to nearby islands is an absolute must making our stay so much better

Room Tip: Get as close to the ocean as possible

The location of Le Meridien is the best in Noumea. Its own private beach and pool at the end of a spit. The rooms are large and a little tired, but well equipped and comfortable. Staff were helpful and their service was good. I would stay again!

Staying in Le Meridien Noumea is undoubtedly one of the highlights of my Noumea trip.
The hotel has amazing private beach and pool side. I stayed in the Junior Suites for 5 nights, and I enjoyed the beautiful lagoon view from the spacious balcony every moment. The room is in decent size, well-equipped with amenities and is always maintained in clean and comfortable by housekeeping (they come in and clean our rooms at least twice a day). The hotel runs good breakfast buffet, providing brekkie selection from Japanese miso soup/rice to France crepes/ croissants. Besides good brekkie, I had good lunches by the beach at Le Fare (the garlic french fries are awesome) and decent Japanese tepanyaki dinner at the Japanese restaurant in the hotel. I wouldn't say it is inexpensive, like everything else in Noumea, but they are in good quality. Finally and lastly, the staffs in the hotel are warm and helpful. Because of the language barrier, I relied on them to help me sort out restaurant booking, rental car problem, surf lessons etc almost everyday. They even arranged breakfast boxes for us on the last day that my bf and I needed to run to the airport for early flight back. I have to admit that Le Meridien Noumea is not those posh, fancy and modern hotel (Le Meridien you need to improve the free Wifi connection/speed), but I have no complaints at all but compliments from this experience. I will definitely come back and stay in this hotel (preferably the same room) for 5-star beach resort holiday next time returning in Noumea.

Enjoyed my stay. Great view from upper floor looking out to sea and Anse Vata beach.
Hotel looks somewhat retro, but I liked the spacious corridors, native artworks on walls, and most staff extremely polite and helpful and most tolerant of my rusty French.
Free bicycles excellent for getting around cycle ways. Complimentary gym was handy for working out, although only on treadmill working.
An excellent spot for a few days of laid back luxury.

Room Tip: Request upper floor if possible.

This is a beaut hotel in a great location. This was my 1st trip to New Caledonia, and the staff there made our stay very comfortable.

I travel and stay in a lot of Starwood properties, and would have to say that this one is starting to show her age, but still has good bones, and great staff. We were initially upgraded to a ocean view room, but requested to be moved to a garden view room. We found this has a sunnier aspect, and was not a breezy as the seaward side. Staff were very accommodating in making this happen.

Room Tip: Higher floors. North facing garden view rooms worked best for us.

The hotel is showing its age and is in need of updating. We had booked a suite which did have a lovely outlook but was really just adjoining bedrooms with some couches in the second bedroom - so there was no flow between the 2 spaces and so we just used the bedroom area. We did have a large private deck which was pleasant but not enough to make up for other inadequacies. The woodwork around the bathroom windows was splintering and had paint peeling off and the tiles in the shower recess were quite mouldy. We had to turn the shower on for at least 5 minutes before the water would run warm. The wifi didn't work in our room and even the capable maintenance man couldn't fix it - the technology was just too old and cheap to provide a signal. We didn't want to spend the whole weekend using our computers but needed to get a few work jobs done and couldn't do this without difficulty. It was a bit cool to make the most of the pool but the paintwork on the bottom of the pool was peeling.
The staff on the whole were friendly especially at the front desk. We had dinner at Hippocampe restaurant one night and the service, surrounds and food were excellent - this was the one redeeming point for the entire stay. We had lunch at the Fare outdoor restaurant which looks directly out over the beach and ocean. Unfortunately the service was abrupt and unprofessional.
Overall the hotel was a disappointment.

Dear ZeeTee260,
This is a very sincere feedback that you give and we would like to thank you for that. Comments from our guests are very important to us and we take them very seriously to improve our product and services. We are glad that you enjoyed your experience at l'Hippocampe gourmet restaurant and that our staff (maintenance, front office) could help you efficiently. However we are sorry to learn that the hotel did not match your expectations and that you felt some inconsistencies with our service at Le Faré restaurant.
We truly hope that you will give us an opportunity to welcoming you back and maybe try our boutique resort on the Isle of Pines, jewel of the Pacific.
Best regards
