Not as good as Ile aux Canards but worth a visit for a few hours. A nice boat trip from Noumea and the walk around the island doesn't take long and is good. The water is very clear but the beach is only ok with one side dominated by parasailers and wind surfers

The island is just beautiful. Only 15 mins away from main island by taxi boat. Try to get there early like 10am so that you can walk to near island before the tide is came.

I recommend the taxi boat "Colleen excursion glass boat" . They are rent along mask, fin and snorkel and letted us know if we are lucky enough to see turtle near the island. You should definitely bring the set. Many fishes in the sea.

I also recommend to bring your own lunch box, water bad beer. Pretty costly if you buy those. Otherwise spending a lots of money.

Clear water, sunshine, good friends and beer. What else do you need?
Have a gorgeous day everyone.

We spent 3 nights here at the resort (see separate review), however, this review is about the island itself.

It is so close to Noumea but you feel like you are in paradise. It does get busy at weekends with day trippers (locals) and can be windy but it was fun to watch all the Kite and Windsurfers on the beach side of the island.

You can walk the whole way around the island in about 30 to 40 minutes - the top of the island is stunning! The water is crystal clear.

On weekends there is a small snack bar (run by the resort) that offers burgers, sandwiches etc.

A lovely spot!

What can you say about a destination that doesn't even let you get settled on the water taxi before you have arrived? As we walked along the jetty, we saw a turtle, 2 massive schools of bait fish being attacked by larger predators and a sea snake. And we hadn't set foot on the island yet. Add to this water that you only ever see in tourist brochures (you really have this coloured water here.... For real) and so clear that we had 40 metre visibility, and you have the best, off the beach destination I have ever seen.... And I'm Australian with amazing beaches. Turn left at the jetty to hire paddle boards and snorkelling gear and head straight out. The down side is the total lack of education for tourists who walk over the reef and show total disregard of this pristine environment. As a result, the first 100 metres is a lot of dead and broken coral but still an amazing amount of sea life. Head just beyond the initial reef and that's where you hit pay dirt. An amazing coral bomie covered in wrasse, parrot fish and of course nemo. Stay out deeper and head out past the over water bungalows as this deeper water is crystal clear, full of coral and sea life. The island is only 6 hectares so you can walk around it easily but see it at low tide to appreciate the variety of sand, sea grass and reef that makes this Eco system what it is. I could not recommend this highly enough, we went back again the next day it was so good.
