We're just back from five days at the Royal Tera -- what a lovely place. We are not usually luxury travellers, but a friend alerted us that this place was recently renovated and the prices hadn't yet caught up with the quality. Which is true.
We went with our two boys, 10 and 13. They made a small mistake in our reservation, and put us in a slighty smaller room the first night. It was perfectly fine, and we would have been okay to stay there. But, as an apology they put us in an ocean view suite for the rest of our stay which was magnificent.
Rooms have full kitchen. Our deal included a buffet breakfast which was elegant and perfect. The pool and beach are wonderful. Good fitness centre. Really nice and helpful staff.
We didn't love New Cal (a little expensive and not SO different from Queensland where we live) but being at the Royal Tera made it quite wonderful.
By the way, snorkeling off Isle de Canards (Duck Island), a short water taxi away from the hotel, is fantastic and easy. We did it twice!
We could not understand why this hotel is not five stars when it is complete luxury. Its only three stars. So we asked. Apparently because there is not a bath in the rooms (just a lovely shower) and no room service! funny....More
