“Nice snorkeling, so close to Anse Vata”

Get on the yellow taxi boat ($12 pp, return) and it s a 5 min boat ride.
The underwater snorkeling path is really nice, great to go there with kids as it is quite educational and definitely geared towards them. The bar on the island is nice and you can rent beach umbrellas and seats.
Take water shoes as the beach to access the snorkeling path is made out of shells and is quite hard to walk on without shoes.

As all the reviews say, easy to get to and really nice. The snorkelling is very good with a great range of fish easily accessible unless its low tide. At low tide, its hard to get out as there is so much coral so time it right and its great. Bring reef shoes though as its large hard coral. A good option but as its small when there is a cruise ship in town they usually take over in large groups that are loud.

Was a great place to visit even when windy in Noumea. Water taxi cost 1200F (AUD13) per person and a Melanesian Umbrella with 4 lounge chairs cost 4500F (AUD50). There were cheaper lounging options including (minimal) sand options which I assume are free. You could use the chairs all day. A good, snacky lunch cost 1000F and was very tasty.

Excellent snorkeling. Trumpets, clowns, parrots just to name a few of around 40 fish varieties we saw. This is a must see in noumea.

Our interest being piqued by the sight of the little island from our hotel balcony, we caught the yellow water taxi across from Anse Vata beach, and spent a few hours lounging on the beach around the island. As the beach is crunchy coral, and a tad hard on the feet, let alone to lie on, there are deck chairs and umbrellas placed along the beach....for which one has to pay, of course! It was too cold to take advantage of the coral reef and blue lagoon surrounding us, but we spent a pleasant few hours doing very little. It wouldn't be much fun if the place were crowded.

only 5 mins from anse vata by taxiboat. Bring shoes as hard shells to walk on. But nice pacific feel. They have made a nice effort with their cafe area with a real pacific touch. Nice spot for a couple of hours
