My son and I have just returned from the most memorable experience of our lives. I did a huge amount of research before deciding on Adventure Kokoda and I have to say I definitely made the right decision. This is a very professional organisation. Their attention to detail is superb. From the time we made the booking to our return home we were always well informed and really looked after. They also do incredible work in supporting the people of PNG. Reg Yates our Trek Guide was exceptional. His historical & local knowledge was amazing. The trek is a real challenge & something you must prepare for. It is a hard slog but so rewarding. Our porters and the entire support crew were fantastic. We enjoyed good meals and we thoroughly enjoyed the company of our fellow trekkers.
Thanks Reg,Charlie,Tracie and everyone at Adventure Kokoda. We will be talking about this adventure for years to come.

I cannot speak highly enough of Charlie and the broader Kokoda Adventure team for such an amazing experience.

From Charlie's knowledge and passion, to the professionalism of his crew, the care of the porters, and the comradery of the group, it was truly life changing.

Most importantly, Charlie shared his knowledge gained from trekking Kokoda for more than 30 years. On many occasions, Charlie was briefing us on key moments, or showing us important historical sites, that other tour groups simply walked past without stopping at. It was this insight that made the trip so special, rather than just being a physical activity.

And when he says you “walk in the footsteps of the diggers”, he’s 100% spot on. We leant while on the tip that there are myriad different walks and shortcuts, with some passing through places that weren’t even in existence during the war.

Similarly, Charlie has true respect for the people of PNG and has helped start school sand many other initiatives along the trek. The esteem in which he is held by the locals in inspiring.

I would encourage anyone to considering walking Kokoda - and everyone should do it - to ensure that they only do it with Adventure Kokoda.

The trek was an amazing experience. Our guide Chad Sherrin was the perfect host and his passion and knowledge of Kokoda, the battles, the local people and trekking was second to none. I would highly recommend Adventure Kokoda to anyone interested in doing a Kokoda Trek

My trip was with BACKTRACK ADVENTURES. Thoroughly recommended as trek organisers. Our guide was a nurse and a passionate historian with an ability to remain calm and made us laugh and cry. This trek is not for sissies, but is doable with patience and trust in your porter team. Do your training. Do you up hills. Wear your shoes in. Take dry socks for every day. You will be wet, you will have mud, you will have tree roots, you will fall over. No time to be precious. There are many monuments to the fallen and many stories and remnants of the WW2 battles that happened along the track. There are many villages along the track, some you get to stay in and some just passing through. The people are a gentle race and very clever and fit. Mainly vegetarian diet. We experienced their generosity and singing and flowers and their prayers. The track is very green, scenic, steep, has flowers, butterflies, rivers, waterfalls, rain, local crafts to buy, cool drinks, twisties, fruit to buy and hospitality of the people. Some are quite shy and live a subsistance farming life. You will not get a flushing beautiful loo, or a decent shower or comfortable bed on the track! You will lose weight and you will make bonds with fellow trekkers. The track is really known by the soldiers who were there as the Kokoda Trail. (so named by the Americans) However, Aussies like the 'track' name.
Some people can get personal guides /porters to take them, if they don't like groups, but that would be quite costly.

We thoroughly researched all the trekking groups & ADVENTURE KOKODA tailored an experience that will stay with us for a long time – exceeded all expectations!
Our trek leader was Bernie Rowell & he was superb – his extensive knowledge & enthusiasm on Kokoda was remarkable, whilst his management with how we tackled the physical, emotional and mental hurdles of this landmark wartime route made the journey incredibly rewarding!
It was a ‘bucket list’ experience & I would thoroughly endorse/recommend ADVENTURE KOKODA – thanks again for Bernie, Tracey & Charlie!
