We went with Kokoda Spirit which i now know are the biggest but this does not necessarily make them the best. Our Australian guide, trek master and our porters made the trip. If it wasn't for them i would of felt completely ripped off.

The food was nothing short of disappointing and on the days when you needed a decent meal there wasn't enough.

I have been on other remote treks and the highlight at the end of the day was the food where as in this case it was a shared sense of what will we have to stomach tonight.
The only fresh fruit was purchased by members of the group and shared. Zero fresh food was provided by Kokoda Spirit.

We had an initial meeting with the head guide announcing that because we had 3 groups in total we had access to a "medic / ER nurse." We saw her on the first day, 5th day and the very last day. Anyone who required assistance in between had to help themselves or were assisted with basics by others in the group or by the guide.

2 trekkers were told on the beginning of the 3rd day that they were to slow and would need to turn back. They both correctly refused and with some additional support made through what were difficult wet conditions made it to the end albeit a little slower than others would of preferred. They demonstrated real Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice.

In summary the experience was disappointing from a value perspective as the modus operandi of Kokoda Spirit appears to be one of volume not quality, with a heavy focus on celebrity for their marketing. This is where the Guide and Porters step up to the plate as they do their very best everyday to help each trekker get the most out of their experience. Being there at such an important time to pay your respects to our fallen though will provide you with memories that will last with you forever.

It is an expensive trip for what you get as a service. Be fussy with your company and scrutinise their claimed provisions, do your research and prepare, train and train and prepare, prepare, prepare!

Probably one of the toughest yet most rewarding experiences I have had. Our guide John Nalder was passionate about the history of the trek and provided insight others may not be able to. The ever present and helpful "DONALD" was a great support and kept the camaraderie going amongst our group.
I would NOT recommend going with any one else other than Adventure Kokoda, they know there stuff. Food was good, Carriers were al great and helpful. Wayne

An unforgettable experience. John Nalder was a passionate historian of the sacrifice's made by our diggers. This was a life changing trip, tough physically but even more so mentally and surprisingly somewhat emotionally. A bond between mates that we will now share for the rest of our lives.
Train hard, trek easier...! Nothing will compare.

A life-changing experience exploring the original war-time Kokoda Trail (including climbing Loni Ridge a highlight), and exploring across and around Myola Lake. So much jungle beauty, rich historic wartime history, so many life lessons shared by Charlie Lynn, humbling village life. At the end of the day, all we really need is a good hut, fire and mat. Thankyou Adventure Kokoda for an awesome experience.

I have just done the walk in April including visiting Bomana cemetery on Anzac Day, & found it an amazing experience.

The small team unfortunately was not conducive to building a strong team environment so the atmosphere on the track & in camp was flat.

However the experience of walking the track and contemplating the endeavours of the diggers some 76 years ago was amazing.

The track itself was in fair condition despite daily rain, and was treacherous in places, however was probably less onerous than I had expected (I did a lot of training prior). Walking poles I reckon are a must.

The camp grounds were fantastic & the food prepared was better than I had expected making it a great experience. The views along the track were brilliant especially from Isurava over Kokoda.

Some food & drinks available along the track but don't rely on (odd coke & Twisties, plus grown produce - bananas, passion fruit, avocado). Path & camp snacks were a pleasant treat.

The porters (I had my own) carried bulkier items (less than 10kgs) & were invaluable in educating you on how to walk the path to avoid falls, mud, injuries). They are lovely and reminded you of the work & sacrifices of the fuzzywuzzy angels.

Unsure if I will ever do again but might with friends or family.
