I stayed at this hotel during a business trip of 1 week. First, don't take the shuttle they offer for the airport transfer, It is not dedicated to the hotel guests and it takes around 3 hours to arrive in the hotel (they don't warn you about it when you book it). The lobby area is actually a casino, something you wouldn't expect in a hotel which claims to be a 4-star international hotel.Third, guest quality is low: people make a lot of noise in the corridors and rooms but hotel staff don't do anything about it. Food quality is not good either. In short, it is made for people who are in the city to gamble and do not sleep at night. Not recommended at all.

Room tip: Don't stay at this hotel.

Located near the hottest spot of Paramaribo with other hotels nearby. Several restaurants and fast food chains are on walking distance. Downtown is a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. Just walk towards Independence square to the right from the hotel entrance. Continue to walk along the riverside in upwards direction and you will reach downtown in 6 minutes. Nearby attractions are Fort Zeelandia, Palmentuin, the Presidential Palace, the highest wooden Petrus and Paulus Cathedral (highest cathedral in the Caribbean built of wood) . On Sunday you can visit the Chinese market right around the corner to the left of the hotel entrance in the Van Sommelsdijckstraat. The hotel room is very comfortable, clean, and equipped with enough drawers. The bathroom and toilet are also spacious with a separate space for your daily personal body care. The room amenities consist of a coffee maker, an ice bucket, a separate drawer, a flat screen TV, an iron with board, a safe, a hair dryer, a mini fridge, at least 6 A/C available outlets (US). In any case adapters are available at the reception. The air conditioning (ceiling unit) is working adequately and quietly. Ice machines are located in the hallway. Breakfast is included in the room rate. For guests who likes swimming, a pool is located on the 4th floor near the rooftop restaurant. You have a nice view on the surrounding area on the rooftop, if you just want to chill in between. The second restaurant is located on the 1st floor (Ogi Teppanyaki). The menu is divers and dishes start above Srd 150 each. However, you can choose to lunch or dine outside the hotel. There are plenty alternatives close to the hotel, all on walking distance.

My husband and friends stayed at this hotel for 10 days. The staff were friendly and accommodating esp. at the breakfast buffet. The matre D for the evening/night shift on the Rooftop was engaging and professional. Beautifil smile. Nice and clean facilities. Great food. We felt at home all around. Would definitely recommend everyone to stay here.

We had a good sized room; in fact it turned out to be a large suite. The bed was comfortable and breakfast (served in the 4th floor restaurant) was very good. Staff were friendly and approachable; and were happy to help with our arrangements. As there is a casino on the ground floor, I guess that rooms on higher floors are best to avoid noise. The hotel is usefully located for all the major sights.

The hotel uses Hertog taxis and care should be taken when paying; they are quite happy to take Euros as equal to Guilders, thus overcharging by several hundred percent.

Room tip: Beware of the casino on the ground floor which may cause noise
