Nice and authentic hotel, clean rooms, kind employees at central spot. One BIG minus; it's extremely noisy during the weekend. Because of the club next door it's impossible to sleep on Fridays and Saturdays. If you avoid the weekends it's a nice place to stay

Stayed: May 2015

As a business traveller staying an average of 3days per week in hotels, this was the most terrible experience ever encountered. Bed floor broke down on me. Did not want to disturb them in the late night hours. I have politely asked for the bed to be fixed in the morning when leaving the hotel alone. Upon my return the afternoon I was surprised to find out that instead of apoligies the rate will go up. More surprising was the reason. The reason was that there where more people in the room, though the front desk saw me leaving that morning alone. The story get even worst; the maid was called to the front Desk by the owner to testify on their behalve for these accusations. Such an invasion of privacy and the distrust to a customer had me decided to check out immediately. 12:45Hr, while max check out time was 13:00 hr. They wanted to charge for an extra night which they did not only after I had already called the police
So in my opinion this must be a scam for a hotel with a prime location, but noisy and with lack of parking space and sure not worth for a business traveller. This was for me penny wise pound foolish.

Room Tip: Martinus appartments or just choose the thrusted names like marriot.

Zeelandia Suites has a niece architecture, clean rooms with affordable prices and a very good restaurant of delicious and varied foods. This hotel is well-located on one of the main places of the famous Suriname Jazz Festival.

the rooms are decent and well-kept - not speaking to design though - as some of the rooms felt like they had two different eras in them

the staff are friendly

this place is very centrally located for the city

Basically for people who prefer to do their walking - rather then cabbing everywhere - this is a good place

This place does tend to have loud parties

Room Tip: the farther back you go in - the slightly better chance you to sleep - farthest from the check-in is a must

Zeelandia Suites looks on first view a excellent budget-accomodation. They have a nice restaurant, nice excursions, friendly staff and a car rental. The rooms are dated and 'empty'-looking. Beds are good. Bathroom is big and tidy. The big problem with this small hotel is the noise and the mosquitos. Friday and Saturday it's almost impossible to sleep before 4AM !!!!! and every night you have to fight with at least 20 mosquitos in your room before sleeping. An electric mosquito repelant cost $10, if every room would have 2 of them ....... Maybe they expect the guest to bring them. Reception Staff is really great and friendly although they didn't solve the mosquito-problem. Cleaning staff is friendly but extremely lazy. So the rooms are badly cleaned. Pitty. :(

Room Tip: I think you better skip Suriname as your holiday destination. Nothing special to see here what you can't see elsewhere in better conditions. Only business should bring you to Suriname. Safety should come first and it's not safe at all.
