“Enjoy Paramaribo from this conveniently located hotel in the city center”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

Hotel Palacio has a truly excellent location in the heart of Paramaribo from which you can explore the major attractions by foot. Rooms are spacious quiet and spotless.
The personnel is very friendly and can assist you in booking one of the many tours to Suriname's beautiful jungle or other day trips.
Only breakfast is lightly disappointing lacking fresh fruit most of the times and little variation in general.

Located about 10 min walking distance to center. This small hotel is new. Room is spacious and clean. We don't like the style of decoration and furniture personally. It's a bit outdated. The bed mattress is not comfortable. Breakfast is simple.

The friendly manager is a great access of the hotel. He was really nice and helpful.

The hotel arranged airport pickup which was on time, very polite, and very welcome since I arrived after midnight. The ride from the international airport to Paramaribo Old Town is about one hour. The night receptionist answered all my questions, explained breakfast options, and signed me in very quickly. Breakfast was excellent with onsite baked breads, a wide variety of cheeses and deli meats, eggs to order, and a fantastic selection of teas. The hotel personnel were extremely helpful in confirming my flight out, providing a map of the area, and changing a small amount of money to enable me to pay for entry into the fort and buy fruit at the Central Market. The Reformed Church is half a block a way, Independence Square and the Presidential Palace another block farther, the Fort and Palm Garden one more block. Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral - one of the largest wooden buildings in the Americas - is between the Palm Garden and the Hotel. Extremely convenient. Extremely hospitable. Extremely well tuned to travel needs.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor

We stayed here twice when passing through Suriname during our travels in the Guyanas. The staff was exceptionally attentive and helpful. Besides offering a smiling welcome, the front desk personnel assisted us with booking transportation within Suriname. They even checked in with us by cell phone during our travels to make sure our pickup had gone smoothly, which I consider above and beyond the call of duty. Additionally, our rooms were comfortable, attractive, and clean. Breakfast was plentiful with hot beverages, juices, eggs, cereal, meats and cheeses provided. The location of the hotel is in the charming central area of the city.

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel and absolutely would visit again. I arrived pretty late and was very hungry. Hotel manager took me with his car to a very nice terrace restaurant. Hotel cannot be better situated than Hotel Palacio, everything is inside 5-10 minutes walking distance and you really dont need a car if staying in the city area. Also enjoyed Paramaribo city a lot. You can get good restaurant recommendations from hotel staff and you always feel safe in the hotel.

My room was very spacious and I found the hotel do have all you need: free wifi, safety box, TV, shower, taylor made breakfast, good air-condition...I also visited some other hotels in the city area, but I think Palacio is offering the best value for money.

Am one of the first person to stay in this kind of botique hotel where the rooms are cozy with nice furniture, bedding, large windows, lovely view from the 3rd floor in my room 309. Above all, I love the bathroom, super showers, fine sink, tiolet and super clean here. The manager was corteous, frendly, helpful and always smiling. The hotel is only ten minutes from the waterfront, and around many places to eat. If I can afford 60 usd daily to stay here again, I will do so. Internet is always free and so is the breakfast; eggs, toast, cheese, fruits, juices, tee, or coffee..
