“A must to visit!”

a place to visit if you like your familiar food and want a great atmosphere. They have a fab outdoor seating area, a few of the waiters speak a bit of English and the prices are reasonable too.

“Lunch is okey”

The place is not bad but nothing "to open champagne about". Service was a little slow. Food was nice.

“For a great meal in downtown Asuncion, this is the place to go.”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

Amid the chaos and heat of downtown Asuncion, Bolsi offers a superb (and well air conditioned) choice of a quick snack bar type service, or just through a set of doors, a full service restaurant. I've eaten here before a few years ago and it was, as I recall, very good then too, but my knowledge of Paraguay and its cuisine was very limited then and I probably didn't fully understand the menu. After at least five more visits to Asuncion, I can now understand most menus and can choose more wisely.

We had a reservation for 6 people at 8:30 pm and were seated promptly in the restaurant. The smartly dressed and very attentive waiter was quick to take drinks orders and bring a lovely basket of assorted breads. Unlike many restaurants where you're just given a bread roll, Bolsi has a delightful selection containing a mixture of Italian style breadsticks, traditional Paraguayan Chipa and delicious 'tostadas con ajo'. All served with a generous selection of butter, pate and garlic dips.

The menu offers a huge variety of dishes to suit all tastes and it was a difficult choice to narrow it down to just one! The portions are generous and all the main courses arrived together with 100% accuracy. Their lomitos and pasta dishes looked great but I opted for a pizza which was amongst the best I've had anywhere. I've only recently discovered the creamy delights of Catupiry cheese and now try to have it with eveything (within reason).

Our waiter was attentive throughout and drinks refills were offered promptly and we were never left waiting for long, despite the restaurant being about 3/4 full. In the end, we stayed for a couple of hours chatting and never felt pressured into leaving. Their coffee was very good too and although we were too full for deserts, looking at the size of the helados and tortes being delivered to other diners, it was probably just as well for the good of my waistline that we declined.

It's also worth noting that if you are dining with children, in the area between the restaurant and the bar service area, they have some iPads connected to the internet and securely mounted to a shelf. You are free to browse the web or update your Facebook status whilst leaving your parents to enjoy their dinner.

All in all, a great dining experience and very reasonable prices compared to say, London or Paris.

“It doesn't get any better than this for a quick and wholesome meal!”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

Bolsi is a wonderful respite from the warm weather, humidity, dust & pollution and din of the streets of central Asunción.
The lunch crowd is professionals and office workers looking for quick and wholesome food. The horseshoe-shaped dining counter yields very efficient service and therefore quick turnaround of seats. They serve a wide variety of soups & salads, and the empanadas are a favorite. We had a cheese one and a pollo one, the cheese winning the taste test. Their bakery case is filled with delectable bite-sized pastries - yummy!
The meals are very reasonable, ours costing ~$10US, for 4 empanadas and two amazing fresh fruit drinks, one piña and one papaya. Don't miss this place if you are in the area.
