“Nice food, lazy service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2012

We went at a quiet time, around 14:00. Quite liked the place, had character but was lacking any real buzz. Staff were pretty un-interested and rather lazy. Food however was excellent, we shared a fajita plate as we were eating big that evening, a decent place to go if you plan to do some of the museums in the local area.

“I wish we'd found this restaurant before our last night!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2010

This was our FAVORITE restaurant of all those we tried in both Bogota and Cartagena. Truly authentic and delicious, honest to God Mexican food. Great (though expensive) Margaritas. I can't recommend it highly enough.

“A Little Mexico in Bogota”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2008

This was a nice surprise we discovered while walking through the La Candaleria area of Bogota. Set in a historic home this authentic Mexican restaurant was an absolute joy. Once you enter you will believe you have traveled to Mexico. The walls are adorned with items from Mexico and the background music is authentic.

The dining area is two small rooms with 4-5 tables each. The size of the rooms gives the dining area a real intimate feel. One room has a small wood stove which can be lit in the cooler days/evenings. A number of plants and cactuses are strategically placed. Ceramic pieces, posters, masks, hats and belts are just a few of the items on the wall which gives each room a 3D feel.

We ordered the chips and salsa to begin. The chips are handmade from the handmade tortillas and have that taste that you often only find in Mexico. They served two salsas one which was mild and a very hot one. Both salsas had great texture and a real depth of flavor. The guacamole was hand made from local avocados (which are quite different from those in the US). We had the fajitas which were served with black beans, pico de gallo and lettuce. The chicken was shredded and not seasoned but was well cooked. It was mixed with peppers and onions. Everything had the handmade feel was quite authentic. The tortillas were made from corn and small (the size of a small saucer). They served a large stack of them in a warming glove.

Wine is not served by the glass but you can order a half bottle which they will chill in a bucket at the table. Soda including Coca Cola Light and beer are available.

The service was great. It appeared that perhaps the owner is the waiter and his spouse is the cook. Food was served hot and presented well on the plate. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for those traveling in the area.
