“Amazing”
Reviewed February 14, 2012

The food here is incredible! we went for lunch one afternoon while walking around the neighborhood. The olive oil/ tomato puree dip is great. The bread is only so-so which is surprising for a tapas place,
We ordered the meatballs which, in my mind were the weakest dish but still good. They were a bit dry.
We had the grilled octopus- delicious
the Torta which was fantastic (one of the best ive had outside Spain)
A plate of the Serrano ham-
and the crab salad which was outstanding
and 2 Bogota Beer Company amber beers
So the food was fantastic but the service wasn't the best. The servers were very friendly but we literally had to ask for everything that we asked for, twice at least before someone would bring it to us.
The food is absolutely worth the very friendly but forgetful service.

“Unique, small plates in an intimate, urban environment”
Reviewed January 13, 2012

This place has very tasty food and the ambience is fairly unique for Bogtota. If you're in the neighborhood (near Museo Nacional) it's one of the best.

“The best tapas in Bogota”
Reviewed January 3, 2012

I have been going here for the last 4 years - since I moved to Bogota, although mainly for special occasions as it's not cheap. Consistently authentic and flavoursome tapas. The main menu looks good too. Well worth the money. I'm not sure how safe at night the street is that it's located in - so maybe take a taxi and ask them to order you one to go home - I do this even though I live nearby.

“Best mushrooms & potatoes of my life”
Reviewed September 30, 2011

We went to Donostia expecting Colombian interpretations of traditional Spanish tapas. What we received were almost entirely authentic Spanish tapas, but this was not a disappointment in the least. The ingredients used at this restaurant tasted as fresh as anywhere we ate during our 2 weeks in Colombia. We ordered off the daily-changing tapas menu on the blackboards (rather than the fixed, printed menu), and we were certainly rewarded.

The meal began with great bread and an even better olive oil/tomato pulp combination that we couldn't stop eating. This was followed with good shrimp and pulpo, better manchego, and then the absolute BEST mushrooms and potatoes of my life. The mushrooms appeared to have been cooked down slowly in a red wine, butter, garlic, and who knows what else sauce that was a rich, deep brown color, served along with chorizo pieces. The potatoes were patatas bravas, and although the brava sauce was better than I've ever had before (including in Spain), the potatoes themselves were what stood out. Perfectly lightly crispy on the outside and soft and smooth on the inside, with an incredibly rich and deep flavor. There's something about the potatoes in Bogota, so I recommend you eat them as much as possible.

Very reasonably priced, but alarmingly empty on a Wednesday night. Please go here, it'd be a shame for it to close!

“Amazing food tucked inside one of Macarena's steep streets”
Reviewed October 9, 2010

Macarena, a hilly neighborhood which is lined with colorful buildings, attracts a fashionable in the know crowd here. Donostia fits in well. The decor and lighting makes you want to linger and savor each morseful of food. You can eat at the bar watching the open kitchen prepare your meal in front of you or have the opportunity to sit in one of their multicolored leather booths. For lunch I had grilled sea bass garnished with local organic vegetables, followed by a light and tasty salad . The foods taste like they were hand picked for you....that's how fresh everything was. Don't miss the delicious bread - a soft texture that complements their dipping sauce of olive oil, tomato pulp and spices. The table next to me had Donostia'ssignature chorizo santarrosano (sausage made in-house) that smelled heavenly. Leave room for dessert. Their banana panacotta, garnished with sugared almonds was amazing.

PS Try their sister restaurant, Tabula which is right next door. Great foods again in a very nice sunny Colombian setting. Kudos go to Chef Tomas Rueda's well-executed and creative foods.
