Have to do this if you are in Bogota. View is magnificent. Do not have to walk much but air is thin so even a few steps will cause to loose your breath. I recommend it!

Interesting cultural site for Bogota. The monastery overlooks the entire city of Bogota. The legend of Monserrate is that if you crawl up to the Monastery on your knees during Semana Santa (Easter Week) that you will be healed of all of your infirmities. The entrance to the chapel has a wall covered with braces, crutches, etc. of parishioners that discarded their crutches after making the pilgrimage. Even if you're not healed, the views of the city are worth the trip!

Great city view. Worth going. If you want to pay using a credit card you have to buy at least two tickets, if you are only buying one you have to pay cash.
If you don't want to walk too much (you might feel out of breath do to the altitude ) I recommend you to take the cable car both ways.

Well it's expensive, long waiting lines and you should only go when you have no clouds. It's on the mountain and the altitude will have influence on your body if you are not used to this altitude.

We took the teleferico to the top of Monserrate on our first day in Bogota. It is better to go before noon so that you can have clear views of the city. There are a few plces to eat and plenty of photo ops.
