worth the trip up to this amazing church, try the coca tea to help with the altitude. Get there as early as you can to avoid crowds at the weekend and especially on sunday when the masses take place, also a good restaurant there. views of city amazing, don't forget your camera.

along the stations of the cross to the church at the top. Some of the sculptures along the way are striking...we found the trees and flowers of interest as well. The church is simple and effective...not like its namesake Monserrate outside Barcelona Spain, but well worth the effort to visit.

I loved this place, I got the tram up to the top and then the cable car back down, best views of the city and a little market at the top to visit as well as the church. On a weekend its very busy with the locals but very safe too.

Enjoyed the ride up on the funicular railway and down on the cable car. Both are unique and offer great views. While up at the top, there are several places to sit and enjoy the view of the city below while having a picnic or cup of Colombian coffee. The church is also a peaceful retreat and especially a great experience if you can be there while they are having mass and you can hear the organ. One warning is regarding crowds. Avoid Sundays if you don't like large crowds. We stopped by on a Sunday first, saw the huge lines to go up, and decided to come back on a weekday. It was much quieter when we returned.
