Bogota is huge - 8 million inhabitants and you get to see it all from Mount Monserrate. I've always felt that the view is amazing from any mirador but this one just blows you away. The surroundings, the church, and even the shops are so pretty it's like you're in another village altogether. And once again the view is incredible. Do not miss it or you'll miss out.

Ride the cable car to the top for amazing views of Bogota. Take advantage of the market at the top with great deals on souvenirs. Lovely church also! At 10,000 feet elevation you will need to breathe deeply! But worth the ride!

The view is spectacular and something that can't be missed! Up top you'll come across the most beautiful view of Bogota. The immensity of Bogota is always lost on me. It's absolutely breathtaking. There is a cable car that takes you to the top or you can hike it. Which is what the pilgrims used to do (i think some still do). But I would not do that unless you are VERY fit. I also heard that that trail can be dangerous. So research the trail before hand if that's something you are interested in and see if its safe to hike. I'd recommend going after a few days of being in Bogota so you have time to get used to the Elevation. Monserrate is above Bogota another 1500 ft, if not more. I went to monserrate the next day I arrived in Bogota which was NOT the best idea. Upon getting off the time cable car and walking up the little ways to the church I felt very light-headed and had to get down quickly. Other than that its a sight that can't be missed!

The best place to see the whole city, as well as black Madonna. The tram/cable car to the top is additional attraction.
