“Casa del Florero, the House of the Flower Pot, aka Museo de la Independencia”
Reviewed June 27, 2012

Very modern museum in an old house where the famous fight over the flower pot stimulated the independence movement. They have at various times and days English speaking guides. Our guide was charming and very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the history of the house. Exhibits were interactive -- waving your hand over certain spots on neighborhood models would change the scene. In two rooms films played on the walls, ceiling and floor, so you felt like you were really there. There's an amazing statue of the two men fighting and a little boy watching. It was a fun and educational experience, and I noticed that all of the children there enjoyed the museum enormously.
There was a small fee, free for senior citizens.

I have been to this museum countless times since I was kid but they have totally re-done this museum and moved into the 21st century.

In this house, disputing over a flower pot, the revolution began.
Its worth it, to spend time here, listening to all the history and tales that made the revolution explode !

“Informative and Engaging Museum”
Reviewed November 11, 2011

The Casa de Florero (Flower Pot Muesum) is the site of one of Bogota's/Colombia's pivotal moments in history, centered around a contrived fight over a flower pot. The newly renovated museum has modern interactive exhibits, historic artifacts and puts the Colombian revolution into perspective with other revolutions (American, French, etc.). There is also a great view overlooking the Plaza de Bolivar from the balcony. The staff was warm and genuinely concerned that we had we had a great time. We arrived late in the day, after the last English tour, but still the tour guide went out of his way to give us a personalized tour and waited with us, after the museum closed, until our taxi arrived - wow!
