“A beautiful little gallery.”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

Obviously, this museum has many paintings and sculptures by Botero. It also houses his superb collection of works by very famous artists of the previous 200 years…Renoir, Degas, Corot, Picasso, Braque, Bacon, Giacometti…. I could go on and on!

“The Top Botero Collection”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Excellent collection of paintings; many statues. Entrance is free and the museum is not crowded. The museum building itself is worth a look

“Favorite site in Bogota!”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Loved the setting in the little Colonial town. Botero's work as well as his collection of other artists was quite impressive. Definitely worth a visit.

“Excellent museum and free!”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

We really enjoyed this museum. Th Botero paintings and sculptures were very amusing, and the scattering of other artists was quite good too. The old building was very pleasant.

“Some great works of art on display, and all of Botero's stuff”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

I am not a huge Botero fan. His sculptures are nice, but his paintings are very repetitive and not ground breaking in any way. This collection had about 200 of his paintings, but also had dozens of paintings by real masters, like Pizarro, Renoir, Picasso, de Koning, Calder, and more. The building was also very cool, an old colonial house that had two stories. With all of the rooms being open to the heat and humidity, it made me wonder if the paintings on display were actually real or nice copies. I saw no devices to control the elements, do anything other than monitor the humidity, or protect the priceless painting in any way. This, along with the lack of security, made me think that the paintings must have been replaced with excellent copies.
