I have stayed at this hotel many times in the last 6-7 years. The staff are always friendly. When I walk in now they all welcome me by name etc. I like the location as it is walking distance to many restaurants in the zona rosa. This could also be a down side if there for the weekend or on a party night as there is a disco across the street. I sleep with TV on and am far from light sleeper so not a major deal for me, but understand other reviews complaining about this.
On a recent trip I arrived in the evening and was tired from my trip. They could not locate my reservation. Turns out somehow my reservation was made at the other Hotel Morrison on 114. I am sure it wasn't me, as I specify Morrison 84 each time I reserve. Could have been our corporate travel agent. Doesn't matter. I told them I did not want to move to other hotel and asked if they had rooms. They did have one left but were concerned it was small and that the other hotel would charge for first night. I told them I don't care. Small room was fine and if I had to pay one night at 114, so as not to have to now change hotels, it would not bother me. I was that tired.
They checked me in and I went up to what was indeed a room smaller than I have ever stayed in there. Bed was comfortable so I didn't care. The next morning, while seated at bar eating breakfast, a receptionist that knows me well said she would call other hotel to see if they would not charge me and said they had a bigger room available now. I said my room was fine and again said thanks for the effort but if I need to pay an extra night, I am fine with it.
As I went back through lobby to take elevator to my room, they said the manager wanted to speak to me. The manager apologixed for small room and insisted they let me change rooms. I assured them, I would only be in the room to sleep and it was fine for the next 3 days. She then informed me that 114 was indeed going to charge me for first night. I said no problem. Then. . . she said that Morrison 84 would NOT charge me for first night as they felt bad!
As a guy that travels 75-85% of my life, to me, that is going above and beyond and shows they value the customers they have. Turns out I needed to return to Bogota the following week, needless to say I stayed at Morrison 84. Even with the noise across the street, Morrison 84 will continue to be my "home" in bogota, because of the attention of their staff. They are all friendly and very Customer Service oriented.
