While the Lancaster House evokes the splendor of the Art Deco Era, it offers modern conveniences. The staff was competent and did everything to make us feel at home. The food was great in both restaurants. The room was spacious and comfortable. The extras were the access keys, weekly coctail party, and the pianist (wonderful touch to any hotel).

Room Tip: Tell the receiptionist what kind of room you would like as oppose to letting them assign the room.

I really enjoyed the Art Deco art pieces in the public area of the hotel. Every public space offers art. I ate at both restaurants and enjoyed them both.

We were able to make arrangements for a driver for airport pick up and to take us to see some of the sites in Bogota. All of the staff we encounter seemed committed to excellent customer service.

although on their website and in the main pages for online booking they rate them as a 4 star hotel, they are far from it. The staff at reception is bad, no attitude and bad mood. I requested at least 5 times an iron to the hose keeping and to the reception and they hadnt any (for a 4 star hotel?), they promisse to have one early in the early morning but as expected they didnt had it. I had to go with a wrinkled shirt. Three times I asked for taxi service and not once was the taxi outside waiting for me, even though I ordered it with more than 10 hours in advance. The dining room offers simple food (eggs and juice) little variety. The rooms are good and gym is small but adequate for a routine exercise simle

Dear Jonaz, As much as we want to be the perfect hotel for everyone, we know that no hotel can be all things to all guests. Different travelers value different things. We take great pride in our service and our facilities. As you see from our comments, our guests appreciate that we simply strive to have a cozy, warm, and spotlessly clean, home away from home with a touch of Art-Deco charm, not to mention our very kind and helpful staff.
I would like to clarify to TA readers that our 4 star rating was given to us by SGS and the Colombian Ministry of Tourism. I am sorry if you were not satisfied with our breakfast buffet, which other guests are always complimenting us on. For the benefit of fellow members of TripAdvisor here is what we serve in our breakfast buffet: Fresh juices, Fresh tropical fruits, several cereals, cold cuts, cheeses, fresh breads, waffles, yogurts, eggs made any style, special of the day, hot chocolate, tea, and coffee.
We have a fleet of taxis always waiting at the entrance of the hotel, there is no waiting. If you choose to call for your own taxi service we cannot be responsible for their service or punctuality.
Finally let me assure you that we focus on the service we provide to our guests and as such we will continue to do all we can to keep our guests comfortable.

It had been at least a year since my last visit. Went back and enjoyed new decor in both restaurants, new access keys and enjoyed the weekly cocktail party. Nice to see the hotel continues to update and add services. Will certainly go back again next time in Bogota.

Room Tip: ask for a suite on the second floor with private terrace

Lancaster House is a beautiful hotel with that evokes the splendor of the Art Deco era, but also offers modern conveniences. The service is excellent and the General Manager, Erick Trujillo, does everything he can to make guests feel at home. The rooms – well, suites – are well-appointed, spacious and comfortable. The restaurant serves good food and the bar area is a nice place to relax over a cocktail, especially when the pianist is playing.

The service here is exceptional and the surroundings are very nice. The breakfast is excellent with a multitude of choices and the dining room is quite elegant. The location is a bit out of the way but taxi fare is cheap and cabs are readily available. There is a drug store a half block away and a small bottle shop/c-store about a block away. A fabulous super market is within easy walking distance. I most definitely will stay here during my next trip to Bogota and I highly recommend it. I believe you will be very satisfied with this hotel.

Checked in late at night, they had a bellboy brought our luggage up and showed us the room.
Our room had a nice kitchen, living room, and a separated bed room and a bathroom. It was nice, clean, and spacious.
Wi-Fi Internet was free and fast but only the living room area had strong enough signal for tablet.
Wonderful breakfast every morning with fresh fruits and seemed to be fresh squeezed juices every morning with some local touches and very nice Colombian coffee. Breakfast staffs were friendly and wonderful. There was an egg station and the chef will make it any way you like. We had omelets which were always delicious. BTW, they did change the food, fruits, bread, juices every single day with many choices which was really nice during our 7 days stay.
We liked our room 308 even sometimes can be noisy. The walls were thin, you can hear your neighbors most of the time and we can hear main road 55 noise all the time (even the room is not facing nor next to it) but after one night we were used to it and had good night sleep during our stay most of the time. For light sleepers better ask rooms far away from main road 55.
Two things we had little questions about-although they all resolved but still was somewhat a hassle to us. 1st, at checked in- they said something about that Tax is not included in the charge (we said that we are foreigners so tax should be waived), 2nd, at checked out, they were going to charge us for room insurance (no one had ever informed us about this, so they said they will waive it). Even though we didn’t pay anything extra, but still, the hotel should follow the right way to do business and that’s the only way to be a good business. They got a score 4 because of this, otherwise we really wanted to give them a 5!
We visited many attractions in this beautiful country of Colombia: A very special underground Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira, some beautiful upstate small towns like Guatavita, Sesquile, Chia…etc, and of course the most famous La Candelaria of Bogota that was definitely worth the journey. We also took the cable car to the mountain top of Monserrate which is the best scenic spot to overlooking huge Bogota City and also the mountain top church with many souvenir shops were really worth visiting.
All in all, we enjoyed our trip to Colombia and would recommend Lancaster House for a great base touring Bogota since their price was right, their breakfast was really good quality and the room was spacious with full kitchen.

Dear Bill, Thank you for such a thorough review. It is these types of reviews that allow us to know where we are doing well, and were we can improve. Regarding the Hotel Insurance, we clearly state this in our website, as well as in OTAs. We are very pleased that you recommend us as a great base for touring Bogota, and we hope to see you again soon.
