“Nice big rooms, good business hotel - quiet and private”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

A very nice hotel with good sized rooms (ok, I had a small suite) and very nice bathrooms. The shower did take a little long to heat up but the temperature in teh rooms were great and the space was very good as well
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and there were always taxis avaialble.
Great restaurants next door - great place to stay to investigate these.

The rooms, staff, location and cleanliness of this hotel made first time travel to Bogota extremely easy. I can not say enough about how helpful the staff was for me, a non-Spanish speaker. They went above and beyond to make sure my stay there was excellent. I will stay at this hotel whenever I travel to Bogota.

This is probably my 20th time at the Charleston, though I've also stayed at the JW Marriott, the Sofitel, the Opera, the Bogota Royal and many others.

There are really only three 5 star hotels in Bogota: the JW Marriott, the Charleston, and next-door Sofitel. There are many imposters (such as the BOG, and so on)

The Charleston has huge, wonderful rooms, with openable windows and lots of fresh air. The rooms are twice the size of the Marriott and 4 times the size of the Sofitel.

Service is as good as it gets, food is wonderful, and the location is the best in the city (near the Zona Rosa, a grocery story, and so on).

Internet is super-quick, great air conditioner, and most of all, amazing service.

I was put-off at the JW Marriott. It felt like I was going through airport security every time you enter the hotel, since it is perceived as a 'target' for leftist guerrilla groups. Also, no openable windows at the JW Marriott, and a shoe box room.

The Charleston is a great place.

Room Tip: The Junior Suites are nice

The location couldn't be better; the staffs are very well trained and they always call you by your name; the services provided and the cleanliness are top; the restaurant is excellent. Cool and quite ambiance in the heart of Bogota.

If you hate the impersonal and generally look for boutique hotels but with a great central location and all the support services a business traveler needs, then this is your best choice in Bogota. The rooms are spacious, and extremely comfortable - if somewhat minimalist. There is free wi-fi throughout the hotel (without the need to continuously sign in) and there is an iPad (bilingual) in every room to deal with room service, the front desk, the laundry etc.

Service is good (and generally very unobtrusive) - and the restaurant is consistently good - although if you go too early, the waiters can get a little chatty among themselves. Clearly though, there is a service culture that is lacking in more northern climes in this hemisphere. There is a business center with computers provided as well as a photocopier and meeting rooms - yet the small hotel feel remains.

Small things like placement of electric outlets and lighting are well thought out.

My minor complaint of the room is that the extractor fans could be quieter in the toilet and shower, and small wash cloths would round out the nice touch of local toiletries provided.

The minibar is well-stocked although free drinking water (a couple of bottles) would be nice.

The location is great - not far from the business districts yet within walking distance of many great restaurants and bars, and as such a very safe neighbourhood.

One tip - if you want a hotel taxi, book in advance as sometimes there is a long wait, although the (generally diminutive) public "amarillos" are usually easily available other than at peak rush hour.

Room Tip: The best rooms in my opinion are the corner ones in the back, where it is much quieter.

This is a very pleasant hotel in a very good location in Bogota, close to some busy restaurants, including the excellent Central Cevicheria. The hotel is clean & modern, with spacious rooms, including wifi and even an iPad. Breakfast is good, a nice touch being the waiter service, rather than a buffet service. This is not a cheap hotel; price seems to be on par or slightly higher than the regular business of a similar standard, though it surprised me a little to find Bogota prices around the same as other big, capital cities. I had had the expectation that things would be a little cheaper in the Bog, but in fairness, Zona T, where the Charleston is located is an expensive neighbourhood, and you can't put a price on your personal safety. I will stay there again, for sure. Well done Hotel Charleston!
