“Meh. Just meh.”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

This place was ok, not great... just meh.

The decor is nice, the rooms are lovely and it's very clean. The staff are very helpful too, but it just didn't leave a very impression on me. Not much atmosphere.

The first night we were there it was deathly silent in the whole house and we (my wife and I) felt a little cautious even saying a word (it didn't help that the guy in the dorm with us was in bed... constantly... for 48 solid hours... in silence. Weird man.) The second night was more of a party night and the third night, moreso still.

It turns out there's a fair few people that actually live at Lima Limon, and so it kind of feels like you're staying at somebody's house: a friend of a friend, so you're not really comfortable inviting yourself to their party, you just kind of leave them to it.

That said though, I would stay there again, I'd just plan to spend more time away from the hostel next time.

Room Tip: From what I could tell, they all look pretty nice. It's just that there are more bedrooms for pe...

Lima Limon seemed a nice place at first glance, but then a group of long term residents descended on the tiny kitchen each evening, literally pushing me out of the way and with no interest in even the briefest talking. Not really a hostel atmosphere you get at most places. They then cranked their dance music up loud at 11pm on a Tuesday night for an impromptu party.

The rooms were clean but 2 of the 3 the toilets were blocked for half the time i was there, and there was a giant poo in 1 of those toilets for that time.

Andreas who ran the place was really nice and helpful which saved the place.

Dorm rooms are fine, clean and fairly spacious, mattesses were comfy. The private room isn't overly private as you enter it via the dorm room and is directly above kitchen.
Pros
- good location although all 3 taxis we took couldn't find it easily - print a map
- beds are pretty good (apart from the usual flat pillows)
- breakfast was good - generous servings of fresh croissants and jam
- Andreas, one of the workers was very helpful

Cons
- seems to have alot of people living here on a semi permanent basis (unsure how many but counted about 12
Toothbrushes on the sink)
- very clicky crew who live there, most of them do not want to socialise with travellers, kind of feels like you are intruding on there space
- loud music nearly every night till late by the long term residents, pack you ear plugs!
- bathrooms are in the dining area - dining table directly outside toilet/bathroom, strange layout
- hot water ran out quickly but was hot while available
- no maps available of bogota, pickup 1 at the airport if you can

Overall I'd consider staying again but have stayed in better.
