“Beautiful Interior”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

As others have noted, the exterior of this church looks very worn but the interior is beautiful. We arrived as they were celebrating a mass so enjoyed listening to the service and music. It is amazing to realize how old this church is, especially with the many newer buildings surrounding it. Reminds you of the foothold the Spaniards had in this part of the world well before the Pilgrims arrived in North America.

“Surprise inside”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

The outside appearance of this church doesn´t suggest the richness inside. There is an impressive ceiling and altar full of gold and expressive statues of saints, which make from this church a great surprise

“A much damaged old church but worth a look.”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

Only the facade, the tabernacle and the tower remain after repeated earthquake damage. I snide you can still see some wonderful Baroque wood carvings.

“Drab on the outside, gorgeous on the inside!”
Reviewed February 5, 2014

Slip by the somewhat persistent beggars at the door and go inside to marvel at the interior. Wow! Very impressive interior you'll not expect when you view the church from the outside. Keep your voice down and be respectful as it is a working, sacred holy place and not a tourist attraction.
