“Friendly, safe and a good value.”

The rates are good here which will probably be your main reaon for chosing this hostel. Other good reasons would be the friendless of the staff along with the ability to meet fellow travelers. The location also appears to be in a safe neighborhood. And it seems to be fairly central as we took numerous cabs from here and I don't think ever paid more than about 7 USD, zona Rosa, zona T, bullfight, downtown etc.
There are 3 big dogs that roam the common area, one of which sometimes barked at people but none ever became aggressive. I love dogs so enjoyed them, but just a note incase you don't.
The place as a whole was very clean, and we saw the cleaning staff doing floors, windows and walls during our stay. Our room was also clean. However in our three nights they never came back in to clean or replace towels. The shower as previously stated had good pressure
and was hot. The room however was basic no pictures or furniture, just beds. They were comfortable with no top sheet just a comforter, like Europe.
There is a computer on the second floor with free internet access and wifi is also available free of charge.
The included Breakfast for some might be a little thin with toast, coffee, ceral and limited fruit available. Sometimes other items were available at an additional cost. They also have two glass faced coolers with fruit juice, water, sodas and beer. It's on a honor system using a clipboard where you just put name.room and item taken, nice.
We also did a private tour provided by the hostel. One of the owners English speaking sisters acted as guide. Although not a licensed guide she did a very nice job and the tour was enjoyable and more reasonably priced than any of the tour companies that I contacted.
They do have washing machines available that I saw other guests use, but I'm not sure if theres a cost associated with that.
One thing to be aware of is that there is NO sign outside on the Hostel. It looks from the outside like any other house in the area, which may be on purpose?
Overall a nice safe budget place to stay in Bogota.

Room Tip: Beware of the rooms on the ground floor near the common area. People sitting outside your door til l...

I generally avoid hostels at all costs but was travelling on a friend's limited budget so went along with it. All in all, it was better than expected. The thing that impressed me the most was that the bed was very comfortable, the sheets new and crisp and the cover very warm and comfy. The shower was hot (as hot as you can take it) and the staff were VERY lovely and helpful. Breakfast is simple but sufficient (bread, fruit, cereal and coffee). You can order eggs if you like (paid). On the downside, the walls are a bit thin and it can be quite noisy. I was disappointed that one night, one of the staff members decided to smoke and chat with her friend outside our door for several hours as we tried to sleep. Not happy.

Due to a lack of availability at La Pinta for 2 additional and unplanned nights, I learned that they had another hostel just up the block (less than 5 mins walk). La Nina I believe it is called. It is smaller and rooms are stacked over 3 floors so a little quieter inside though once the day begins the traffic outside may bother you a little if you are a light sleeper (it is a secondary road). That said, there is traffic because this is a very well-located place. You are in between everything you will likely visit in your time here - Candeleria is only a few dollars up the road in one direction, and Zona Rosa in the other. The airport too is only 30 mins away in the worst traffic. This is a big benefit given the traffic in this place is HORRIBLE.

All in all, for the price paid, the few inconveniences can be solved with a pair of good earplugs. I think it is pretty good value for money :)

Room Tip: In La Pinta, avoid the rooms out the back near the social area - people tend to hang out there playi...

La Pinta Hostel is located in a great area. Only 2 blocks to the supermarket and a 10-15min walk to the Transmilenio (a bus system that is efficient and easy to use). There are many restaurants and ATMs within walking distance.

The hostel staff is AMAZING! So helpful with any questions, offering advice and suggestions about what to do. Most of them speak great English.

La Pinta is always very clean. My boyfriend and I stayed in the private double bed with ensuite, located on the top floor, good sized room with large bathroom, desk and BIW. The common areas are great.. notice there's a plural! There's an outdoor area with table, lounge and hammock. A lounge room area, a kitchen/dining area and a front room area... Outdoor balconies, upstairs lounge room and middle floor computer area. All great spaces to hang out. The kitchen is well resourced so preparing lunches/dinners is quite easy. There are drinks (water, sodas, beer, wine) and snacks available to purchase, using an honour system (so nice!). There are two gorgeous, friendly labradors that live at the hostel.

Tours are provided by the hostel, but my boyfriend and I obviously had the worse luck with them. The bike tour that we were supposed to take didn't show up, so we spent over an hour waiting. We booked another tour, a bar night out. We took the van out to the bar, and unfortunately the bar was closed due to a private party. Instead the van took us to Zona Rosa where we had an awesome night out. Unfortunately the tour wasn't as planned. The staff apologised profusely and we didn't pay for any of the tours. Such great customer service!

WiFi and Internet are free and so is the continental breakfast. Breakfast is served until 11am every morning. It consists of cereal, toast, fruit, coffee and juice. There may even be pastries included, but my boyfriend and I always ate breakfast so late... and it was still sufficient then.

The vibe of the hostel is extremely friendly and social, perfect for the solo or couple traveller. I highly recommend staying at La Pinta Hostel when you're in Bogota.

The hostel was great! We had the most amazing time there. The kitchen and bathrooms were always clean, the communal area was used well and always buzzing and the breakfasts were really good.
The staff were very friendly (especially David) and always willing to help with what ever questions we had.
The hostel also organised daily activities (we did the one to Andres Carnes y Res and it was great!) which helped with meeting people in the hostel.
The location is great- supermarkets and it is about a 10 min walk to the bus stop. We thought it was a good location- not in the tourist area, but close enough to all the happening areas.
Great place- we stayed for a week!
