Sporting a Liberace inspired front lobby, Fontibon is really just a basic hotel that is cheap and near the airport. Not withstanding the lobby, the rooms and public places are clean and comfortable but very small and very very basic. The restaurant features nice views of the city and well prepared but, for Colombia, overpriced dinners. The free breakfast was excellent. The only real draw back is that the Fontibon is located in a really crappy neighbourhood. The implications of this are that for entertainment you have two choices, TV and TV. For meals, you have once choice (which explains why the dinner was 19.000 COP!). If you like a cocktail, bring a bottle. If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs (or a bigger bottle) because it is very noisy. I did not stick around during the day long enough to case the area. However, others in Bogota dropped their jaw when I described where I stayed so that should say everything. In summary, if you need a clean basic hotel that is close to the airport this is the place for you, but please, do not go out after dark. It is not a tourist destination, so if you want to see Bogota DON'T DO IT FROM HERE. Head for La Candelaria and other more touristic spots.
