I arrived at 4pm and needed to leave at midnight to the airport. I asked if I could pay a reduced rate to not use a bed, just the facilities. They very kindly let me do this for free, even gave me a towel to use for a shower. Amazing

The most difficult part of our stay was staff ignoring the no smoking signs in the common area right outside our room. We informed them that the smoke was drifting into and becoming trapped in our room and that is was a problem for us. We also spoke to them about the late night "party" noise and load music right outside our door. They joked about both these issues and when nothing changed we had no choice but to move to a different hostel. Staff also seemed to be letting random "friends" sleep overnight in the common areas so using these spaces early in the morning was a bit uncomfortable. The kitchen stove, refrigerator, pots and pans all have seen better days and are overdue for replacement. The extension cord for the refrigerator was often accidentally unplugged. Bath mats in the shower had black mold and needed to be thrown out. When we inquired about tours featured on their hostel brochue we were informed that we were responsible for finding 3 other people to make the trip possible. There are so many other hostels in the area why stay where staff ignores your concerns and comfort?

Not the worst hostel I have stayed at, but definitely on the bottom half of the list. For the price, the rooms are just so-so. Bathrooms are decently clean. The rooms in the back of the hostel can get quite noisy at night since it is right next to the common area.

Hostel Sue was, hands down, the worst - and most overpriced - hostel I stayed in during my 6-month backpacking trip through South America (and I stayed in a hostel that was essentially a crack-house one night. Better service than Hostal Sue.) The staff is apparently incapable of keeping track of payment. Every morning, before heading out into the city, we paid rent for the day. On our last day (as we were leaving for the airport) the staff accused us of not paying one day of rent, treated us like idiots (because one of their staff-members made a mistake) and continued to argue with us for 40 minutes before we finally just walked out, not wanting to miss our flight home because of their mistake. Great way to spend our last hour in South America. So if every other hostel in Bogota is booked, and you are forced to stay here, don't pay until the last day to avoid them trying to screw you.

We would recommend this hostel only if you don't mind loud music, unclean bathrooms, random people sleeping in the lounge at all hours of the day and night, a kitchen with broken stove, and a collection of greasy, broken pots and pans we wouldn't stock a hunting camp with much less a hostel.

When we inquired about booking tours that they advertised we were informed they would only be held if we found 3 or more additional people to join us.

The most egregious offense was staff smoking in the common area despite a no smoking sign and a request that they stop. The smoke was trapped in our room (which was right off this common area) and made our eyes burn all night.

The only saving grace was the sweet guy who drives the van for their tours.

We ended up switching hostels after 3 nights of trying to be tolerant.

Best thing about this hostel is the hot water. Bogota is cold! The beds could've used another blanket. The location is good, in the heart of La Candelaria. Lots of good, budget restaurants, nightlife, and sightseeing within walking distance. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. Good wifi connection. Small kitchen that is cramped when more than one person is cooking. Nice living room but it's also quite small. Courtyard in the back as well as a bar in the front which are both good for socializing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Probably would've rate this place a 'good' if there was the option.
