Cons: Noise is a problem. I was told that double pane windows are to be installed soon. That will help, somewhat. Rooms on periphery suffer from both the street noise and interior sound. I would suggest, some insulation around the door frames and under the door, and where possible, and it was in both rooms I had, a second door between the entry and sleeping area. Even normal conversation in the breakfast area or lobby just bounces up the interior courtyard and through the unsubstantial doors. If available, and considering the relative bargain, "splurging" for the "junior suite" (which still has a window into the interior vestibule) is the way to go and I was MUCH happier in this (our second) room. The outdoor window faces inward and there was not much noise from the hostal next door.
My other issue was the poor water pressure and lack of hot water in the otherwise very nice and large bathroom of my first room. Fortunately we moved and I never got the chance (or bothered) to complain so I cannot say they couldn't have done something about it. They are so accomodating I am sure they would if they could.
So much for the negatives.....
PROS: Other than the great staff, it's a great location for seeing the things in this part of the city. I split my time and in retrospect would have spent 3 days here, 2 in the G zone or shopping area and a couple in the north end ....I like to get out to walk to things and Casa Deco is great for the Historic Center, Monserrate and Candelaria...which looks a little spooky but is just filled with college kids having a good time. I didn't feel danger, even at night.
I hope they can get the noise thing under control, it's the only flaw here.
