We chose this hotel for it's location - Candelaria. The thought was that if we are going to stay a few days in Bogota, it would be best to be in the historic center so that we are close to the sights. The premise had merit but unless you are a 20-30 year old, think again.

Let me explain. The hotel is cozy with a great breakfast and staff (the Italian owner was more than helpful) however the area is filled with university students who party late into the night. Even with a rear facing room, the sounds carried from the street. Moreover, the area is not safe at night so even walking to a restaurant down the block made us super cautious. However, on the flipside, during the day, one is walking distance to all of the sights.

So, if you want to be close to the Gold Museum and other sites, stay here BUT have the hotel call a taxi and head to North Bogota for dinner. AND be extra careful - this is after all, Bogota.

PS: Make sure you get a heater for your room as the windows are not thermal pane and it gets chilly at night.

Room Tip: Away from the street and top floor to try to abate the weekend noise.

Stayed at Hotel Casa Deco in La Candelaria area in Bogota for 4 nights. The staff here are so nice, friendly & helpful. I was sick with fever for the first two nights I stayed here and the staff organised both a Dr to come out plus medication from the pharmacy - thank you !
My room was a bit noisy but I was told this when I checked in and as this was the only room they had available I took it. The room is spacious, clean & everything worked.
I wouls stay here again next time I go to Bogota as I prefer the older area around La Candelaria - I felt safe here but I would still be careful at night.
Thanks again for looking after me :)

Room Tip: My room on the ground floor next to the reception was noisy but still OK. Probably try to get anothe...

We stayed at this small and cosy hotel for the weekend. Beautyful rooms with nice colours, good beds and very spacious.
Casa Deco is located in the heart of the Candelaria district and all city treats are on walking distance.
We arranged airport pick-up with the hotel but something went wrong and we took an airport taxi instead, the hotel compensated us by giving us a free ride back to the airport while it wasn't their direct fault, this is a good example of the hotel's service level !
The staff is very helpful and kind, you feel at home immediately. Breakfast is also very good.

Recommended by a friend from our stay in Barlovento, it was perfect for the convenenience to La Candelaria. The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff very helpful; especially carrying my heavy suitcase up 3 flights! I was quite comfortable but some may find it a little cold. I couldn't find a thermostat even if I wanted to change.

We stayed in Casa Deco for 3 nights during our stay in Bogota. We did not know much about this place beforehand as we booked our entire trip in Colombia through a travel agency. The location is great (10 minutes walk from all main sightseeing places), and the staff were courteous and helpful. The room is clean and spacious, and we even got a free upgrade to the suite in our last night. Breakfast is great because of the fresh fruit bowl. Definitely recommend this place if you are visiting Bogota, you won't regret it!

Side note: if we can choose again, will probably only stay in Bogota for 2 nights max. Bogota and it's surrounding attractions (e.g. Salt cathedral) were not that interesting in our opinion, your time is better spent in other places of Colombia (e.g. Salento)

We stayed in Hotel Casa Deco on two occasions in early September 2012, and we were very happy with our choice. The hotel is very attractive, well located in relation to the attractions of the historic centre, and the owner and staff members were outstandingly kind, friendly and helpful. Our room was simple but spacious and immaculately clean. There is no lift so if climbing stairs is a problem, we would recommend requesting a room on a lower floor. Also, as some other reviews have mentioned, there is some sound transfer, especially from the neighbourhood on the weekends, but we did not find it bothersome. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. We will be returning to Casa Deco at the end of September and we're looking forward to staying there again.

On our way to Cartagena, we decided to stay in Bogota a bit and get a feel of it.
We stayed 3 nights (2 would have been sufficient if you dont know any locals). We chose Casa Deco after the good reviews, and because we wanted to stay in la Candelaria.
The hotel deserves all the good review. It's well kept, clean, feels safe. Staff is helpful and warm enough. Breakfast was very good a filling. Our room had a terrace and a nice view of the neighborhood and the mountains, which i liked a lot.
The bed was comfortable, despite the thick pillows and the room being a bit chilly at night and in the morning.
Only complaint would be the noise: the interior stairwell allows the noise to propagate easily to the top floor where we were, and the doors/windows could be more sound proof. At night it can be an issue, so get some earplugs and you'll be fine. Expect noise from schools around the hotel.

The neighborhood/getting around: we were warned many times about safety issues and the need to be careful. I guess the warnings are necessary, but as a result we were nervous. La Candeleria is a relatively nice neighborhood (no other neighborhood we visited had as much charm as this one, the colonial style being somehow preserved in the historic center). Lots of students due to the universities around.
Museums are just a few blocks away (el museo Botero is great), lots of lunch options (we loved Nuraghe, great simple italian food).
We followed the safety advice to go to other neighborhoods, we had taxis called and verified. But for a few more USD you can arrange rides with drivers working with the hotel, they were great and made us feel less worried about safety.

Casa Deco is a very good choice to stay in Bogota for tourism. With all the efforts made by the city to improve safety in the neighborhood, it'll be no doubt they will do great.
