“Good party hostel”
Reviewed June 12, 2014 via mobile

Stayed here for a few nights. Travel agency is very helpful and knowledgeable! Rooms are quite good, nice to have a lift when you need to get to the top floor. Bar was a lot of fun, good specials and always something on. Internet worked better than other places. Taxi service out the front which was nice. Fairly good location. Food menu was quite good. Played good sports on TV.
Cons: Breakfast was meant to start at 7 but rarely did. Our bathroom bin in the room was not emptied once. Rooms seemed to be overbooked a bit.

Overall, defiantly would stay again.

Booked a 6 person dorm but was put into a 7 person dorm and staff refused to change it. Not the biggest problem but the building is old and there seems to have been no renovation before Loki moved in so the drains were constantly blocked and toilet paper constantly out - just frustrating having an extra person in the room contributing to this. Rooms smell as there is no air circulation - it is effectively an old hotel now with way more beds than it was designed to accommodate. Wifi is limited to the bar area only and even then it is down most of the time.

The only saviour is the bar and breakfast area which gives an excellent view over the city and is great for parties. My advice? Avoid Loki and choose any of the other party hostels in La Paz - I saw them during my stay and they are in a completely different league.

Stayed here for one night in a 4 bed female dorm. Staff are very helpful, although I had arranged a airport transfer with them but the taxi did not turn up. Not at any fault of the staff. That is just bolivia. The dorm was good, however did not sleep much. Lots of drunk people screaming and shouting all night in the corridors.

Hello Naz,

We appreciate the feedback, it's a shame the other guests did not allow a good night of sleep! It is sometimes difficult to arrange taxi pick ups but I will personally make sure that these work top notch from now on.

Make sure to stop by when you are coming back to La Paz!

Cheers,
Luis

I tried a couple of other Hostels while in and out of LaPaz on 2/3 day trips to nearby Mountains, and Salar de Uyuni during my stay. I found Loki to be by far and away better than the two other ones i stayed at. Needed to book at least a couple of nights in advance because it fills up. Super cool bar staff, food was good. This place will be at the top of my list next time in LaPaz! Thanks LOKI!!!!!!

Best thing was non-smoking rooms, and separate smoking from bar area! so nice! Great job Loki!

Room Tip: I stayed in four bed dorm with private bath. Floor 2 and 4, not much of a diff- bar noise a bit lou...

Don't get me wrong, if you want to party and have an awesome time getting drunk, dancing and doing stupid stuff. This is THE place to do it in South america.
Start with the bad. The rooms are pretty small (but all have ensuite, definite bonus) and they have only just moved so they don't have the real modern, comfortable feel of, say, Milhouse or LOKI Cusco. The cleanliness isn't top notch, takes a while for all the rooms to get cleaned during the day and some people make messes the night before... myself included. Another criticism I had was that it is not as easy to get to know people as some other party hostels we went to, maybe because the common areas aren't quite as good, but it's not that hard if you make an effort or if you are there for more than a couple of days.
However there are a lot of good points. The parties are sooooo much fun, the drinks are unbelievably cheap as happy hour runs from 6pm until 12pm and there is music and dancing every night plus other activities that the staff organise. The staff, in particular the bar staff, are super friendly especially Tom the bar manager when we were there. Definitely some very memorable nights had there even though I dont remember a lot of it if that makes sense haha.
Also the beds are very comfortable and as I said all rooms have an ensuite. The dorm rooms are super cheap but me and my mate ended up getting a twin room for only £8 just so we could have a quiet night or two before our death road trip, which can be organised very easily through Dean the travel agent.
All in all, LOKI is an experience. If you don't want to party like its 1999 then this isnt the place for you, but if you are into that thing then it is awesome and the hostel is easily comfortable enough to accomodate you.
P.S. get the chicken burger, thank me later

Room Tip: Definitely get a whole room for your group if you are willing to spend a bit more

This place was ok. First they didnt had our reservation, so i got a 4 beds rooms for two then they changed my room for a double bed one which was ok, rooms were not cleaned at a daily basis and hostels was a bit loud since there is a club on the six floor.

The worst experience was when they allowed people in our rooms at 5 am because they forget to insert me in the system.

Food and breakfast were good but not really special.

I wasnt expecting Loki to turn out this way for my experience! The New Loki is a hotel not a hostel. First staff member we were incounted by was rude and treated us like a number and not a guest! 8 levels is just to big with no charm whats so ever. I no its just moved there and hope it gets back to what the old Loki is Known for Because at the moment the vibe just not happining. WiFi here is the worst ive incounted and with 300-400 (thats a guess) you would think it would have a high speed conection. Hope it can turn it around and get back the old Loki's rep!
