This little park, about 30 minutes outside of La paz, is just a breath of fresh air! It will take you about 1 hour max to get through, but we enjoyed every minute of the beautiful rock formations and views over the valley! Go here!

Personally i thought this was one of the highlights of La Paz.

The Moon Valley is located in the small village about 10 kilometres southwest of La Paz. Its a very unique landscape filled with rock formations (made of clay) that have been formed through thousands of years of erosion. The view is spectacular and with a little bit of imagination you could make it much more interesting.

Entrance fee is 15 Bolivianos as of Nov 2013.

I was not that impressed with Valle de la Luna. There are two options you have when you arrive, a 45 minute walking route or an express 15 minute route. Those with any height phobias may be a bit put off in that there are not really any substantial railings and at times there are no railings. It is worth a visit only if you are already in Zona Sur or if you have some time to kill. There are better sights in La Paz than this.

We took this as part of a two-hour bust tour to Zona Sur. We sat at the top of the double decker bus but had to move away from the front because it felt like we were in a greenhouse in the bright sunshine under the clear plastic roof. The Zona Sur itself was very disappointing, really only a slightly more upmarket area of La Paz. However, it was quite pleasant listening to the very interesting tour guide. The Valle de la Luna made a great place to wander around, admiring the views of weird rock formations, flora, and fauna. We are in our sixties and had to go slow, but managed the climbs and descents despite the altitude. So, overall, an enjoyable excursion if you have enough time for it, but certainly not critical to getting to know the country.

We just did a 2 hour tour of the valle with motorcycle tours bolivia and it was amazing! Lots of fun but always felt safe. I have never ridden a quad bike before but we were given a lesson before and if I didn't feel confident I could have had an instructor on the bike with me but it was easy enough! Loved every minute!
