My partner and I travelled for a fortnight in the south of Bolivia, staying at Casa Grande at the start and end of our trip. An incredibly beautiful country, it's under-developed and travel infrastructure is generally quite poor, so standards of accommodation and dining err on the low side; however, we thoroughly enjoyed our four warm, comfortable nights here.
The hotel is some way out of the downtown area, but it's a cheap and easy taxi trip to the (rather chaotic) centre, and there are plenty of restaurants, supermarkets and other facilities nearby. We welcomed the quieter surrounds of the hotel.
Our rooms were excellent, large and well-laid out, with great views. The staff were always kind, very helpful and courteous. The hotel's excellent restaurant - Mezzo Cafe - deserves a special mention. All the meals we had there were superb, probably the best on our trip.
Finally, in a country where a same-sex couple traveling together and requesting one bed does not always elicit a positive response, I'd like to thank Casa Grande for not raising an eyebrow, welcoming and treating us as "normal" guests...More
