I enjoy Vanilla for a tea and sweets, just as well as for a light meal. The atmosphere is friendly and the service courteous.

Drinking good coffee is a rather new habit in this country. In spite of being Bolivia a coffee bean producer and exporter, ten years ago very few people enjoyed having a good expresso or capuccino. La Terraza and Alexander (which now have expanded to several locations) were among the pioneer coffee shops. However in the past couple of years many other good places emerged, competing in quality. Vainilla is one of them, surrounded by other ten coffee shops in just a 30 meters radius. That very block in the San Miguel neighbourhood is wonderfully crowded by the best quality coffee shops. The advantage of Vainilla over the other places is for smokers: they can smoke up in the second floor. Coffee is good and the place is warm and cozy.

Delighted to find Vainilla in La Paz. Coffees are prepared expertly. The small croissants, while not the traditional, flaky style, are fresh and delicious; ask for some dulce de leche to spread on them--yummy! The iced berry tea is very refreshing on a warm afternoon. Good variety of various other pastries as well. Very clean location, good service, in a nice area of La Paz's Zona Sur.

Note: there is also a new Vainilla in Cochabamba; different ambience but equally good coffees.

Vainilla realy knows how to make great espresso, cappuccino, etc. and uses wonderful, rich organic Bolivian coffee beans. Give Vainilla a try if you are in La Paz or Cochabamba.

We love this place. It's a bit more expensive than Alexander coffee, but it's worth it. We love the pastries and sandwiches. Everything they make is quality and very safe to eat. The smoothies are delicious! The service needs some improvement, but we are still in Bolivia. The smoking areas are marked but nobody respects them. But sit by a window and you can open it for fresh air.
