A house full of art work, some of it for sale and some of it is owned by the museum. Some of the art is clearly political in favor of the Che era.

The key driver for me to visit this museum was that it is designed by Gustave Eiffel. But once i entered the musuem, the art kind of held my attention. There are Andean colonial art along with lot of exhibits of the contemporary local artists which are quite good.

I had read about it on Tripadvisor and decide dto visit - bu thad a great walk up and down before I finally found it. Asked a numbe rof people, and a kind cafe owner has even looked it up on his computer 8and then misdirected me...) - so do not count on the locals that they know of this place. Which is a pity. It is in a fine art nuveau building, but ther emust have bene two (twin9 buildings originally, and no. 2 is now derelict,a dn walled off (well, cardboarded off is a better description9 so maybe people automatically discount ists neighbour,.too.
Ther eare all sorts of art on the entry floor gallery - some outright propaganda of little artistic merit (like a slimy congratulatory portrait if the current president; if he did not forbid the display of this type of "art", then Bolivia is on the wrong path... ). Tha collection itself is interesting, bu tagian, it is a mixtuere of a handful of great works, and some "pleasing" ones, and some outright propaganda claiming it is art. Picasso at least had class... these do not reach the same level. All that gripe, and I still ended up buying some art there... so take my advice with a pinch of salt, go and see for yourself.

We visit museums whereever we travel. This museum is actually two floors of gallary (you can buy the art, we ended up buying two pieces) and one of museum. There were at least three Remington scuptures in the museum collection. Contemporary Bolivan art is very busy, lots going on in each piece. I like this.

The building itself is worth the price of admission. Very impressive.

Some museums feel dead, this one is very much alive.

The building itself is worth the entry fee. Inside is a nice range of pieces by Bolivian artists - hit and miss in quality but good fun. Many of the artworks are for sale so could be a great place to find a unique souvenir.
