“An hour of interesting reading”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

It's quick and informative. If you have an hour to kill, this is a place to kill it. There are displays in Spanish and a guide to go along in English.

“A bit boring, but a right of passing while in La Paz”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013

The facts are somewhat interesting, albeit somewhat repetitive and out of date. Guaranteed you will learn something new about coca. The presentation is what makes it a bit of a boring thing to do (you are essentially given a 17 page essay about coca which may or may not correlate to the many pictures and facts pasted on the walls). Having said all this, it is inexpensive (13 Bs) and will take an hour of your day. Everyone seems to end up here during their time in La Paz, so it is a bit of a right of passing. I would recommend a visit here if you have some extra time to fill. It is very conveniently located on Linares just off Sagarnaga.

“Such potential to be Excellent!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2013

I've been going in and out to this museum-café for the last three-four years and i haven't seen much of an update. However, the information provided is very essential and it's all in one place. The location is perfect, the building itself is worth a treat with lots of stone being used in the construction. There are lots of information about the plant, the medicinal use, the drug use, historic figures and furthermore. One of the attracting things about coming here for me is their cafeteria. They have a small café on the 2nd floor serving up creative beverages and foods.....all of which can include coca. I strongly suggest the coffee with coca and a very tasty chocolate-coca cake which is very moist and good! You can also find the original coca-candy for sale plus a lot of other independent natural/alternative products.

“Informative, but boring”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013

You'd think that a museum devoted to a subject like this would find some way to make their presentation engaging and attractive, instead it's two small rooms and a back hallway papered with photographs and charts and such detailing the history of coca production and use for traditional, ceremonial, and medicinal use. All the signage is in Spanish, though there are books with translations of all the signs into various languages available at the front desk. Interesting on a purely educational basis, but pretty boring beyond that.

“Interesting”

Enjoyable 40 mins and not expensive. Lots of reading and displays cramped but informative. Must visit in la paz but just don't expect to much really as its a cheap time filler
