There is no internet at all, if you are lucky you'll get 5 mins per day of very slow connection) and when you ask for help on the issue they act as they don't care. Similar with hot water, it doesn't work all the time, and water in La Paz is really cold!! Beds are all in bad shape and our room was very noicy (mainly coming from upstairs).

We stayed three nights at Hostal Austria - seems almost frozen in time (sixties or seventies, of the 20th century), but very clear and tidy. It's a quiet and friendly place, the staff is very helpful and has only rooms with shared bathrooms. The showers are hot (heated by gas), but the gas cylinder is inside one of the bathrooms, which can eventually get dangerous (although we had no problems whatsoever). It's well located (near Plaza Murillo) and quite easy to get around. No breakfast - but you can have it somewhere else (like Hotel Torino, from 7am or 7:30am).

Room Tip: The rooms with window to the outside are noisy, if you're there on a friday night; I would sugge...

Hostel with furniture from the 60ies, but not really on purpose :-) The staff was friendly and helpfull. The kitchen and the living-room was not cosy at all and not done to meet other travelers.. You just want to do your stuff and leave the place. The bathroom was with warm water, no electric shower but still hard to get the right temperature.
Really cheap in december: 35 bs/pers/night.

Well. this place is pretty clean and there are several toilets and showers. But i`d like to add a few things to this review.
All showers work with gas, and the heater that work with gas is inside the shower!!, and also the gas cylinder is in the bathroom!!!!!! THIS IS REALLY DANGEROUS!!!! I`m a plumber and I do know how dangerous this might be.
STAFF is old, no activities, no party, it`s expensive compared to another places i stayed in la paz, they charge for internet, you can only cook simple stuff in the kitchen (no microwave, no oven) no breakfast included., they only seem to be really interested on your money, NO BACKPACKERS SPIRIT AT ALL!!!!!!
OVER ALL I WON`T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

This is a good hostel, on a 2nd floor using the stairs. The rooms are comfortable, though a vague smell of humidity. Very clean, and they have hot water all day.
Guests do have access to a little kitchen where you can make breakfast or some simple meals. You can also use a fridge.
Internet access is not included, but it's not really expensive and the connection is pretty fast.
There is a common room with a big TV, quite cozy.

You can arrange tours at the reception counter, they work in cooperation with a travel agency.

Simple and cheap. I would recommend this hostel to budget travellers.

A little bit chilly, could do with extra insulation. But there are plenty of blankets on the beds. Friendly staff, hot showers, clean. Laundry service and left luggage service. Good value budget hostel.
