“A comfortable, safe hotel... excellent amenities....BUT....”
Reviewed March 21, 2014

Agree with both Mixakoatl and Schmoopy..... Very obliging, friendly and helpful staff...full marks! An excellent, helpful travel-agent and a well-stocked gift-shop also in the hotel. As stated, very few choices for really up-market hotels in La Paz, Bolivia... We chose this hotel since central,in a safe, attractive area of the city (the 'Polanco', 'Eppendorf' or 'Tiergarten' of La Paz!). Also the Radisson is a known chain,so we knew 'what we might get'! In many respects the Radisson, La Paz is 'a bit old-fashioned' ..hotels like this are not newly-opened in the 21st Century! (Radisson should pinch a few ideas from the Meliá or Hilton chain!)

However, the restaurant offered good food and we had a fine view from our room BUT this hotel MUST undergo a 'make over' sooner (rather than) later!! According to my Japanese husband, rules MUST apply for use of the Sauna/Spa! (no disposal basket for dirty towels, no water offered for guests) also guests should be reminded of rules, how to use a sauna!!! The gym on the contrary was very nice. and the hotel had a great, fully-equipped business-centre. Obviously what the Radisson, La Paz needs is good, healthy, competition!!!!..Maybe the charming, highly-competent hotel owners of the Altiplano Hotel in Tarija, could be motivated to open a sister-hotel in La Paz??? It would be overrun with guests!

Room Tip: High up and overlooking 'San Jorge'.

I had the opportunity to travel to Bolivia for Business and one of three cities that my work took me to, was La Paz. The client recommended this Hotel. While I stayed there, I happened to check tripadvisor on this Hotel. Dirty Carpets. Forced Air Heat that dropped dust out late at night. Catatonic Staff. Dated decor. Self evaluated 'four stars'. Washroom drain plumbing that backed up in the third minute of a shower. Plus side is the very good food at the URU 1st floor Restaurant, where the service was the best. On second night, the Elevator stopped at 2nd floor and in walk Execs and on the way down, 'President' turns and asks in English 'How is your stay?' and I nodded and did not rant; I actually walked out without answering. I have sent an email to managers and they have responded that they will improve on the 4 main points and at least 2 other serious safety issues of an electrical nature,

Room Tip: Always check out the Washroom and Shower before you let the Bellhop go. Do not hesitate to change ro...

I stayed here for a couple of nights. It's a really nice hotel. The staff is always there for you. The location is pretty good because it's not in the crowded area of La Paz. You are in a walking distance of everything.

Room Tip: Choose room that are at the TOP of the building and you will have an awesome view.

Have stayed here for several nights and I give the staff high marks for their friendliness and spirit of service. But, the rooms are average, with shabby the towels, bed linens and overall décor. I don't think that there are many choices in La Paz so perhaps this is why the place needs face lift. The rooms have little insulation to the outside so it can be noisy but La Paz is a busy city with lots of traffic so I am not sure that this can be avoided.

The location is central in town and has a very nice restaurant on the top floor with stellar views of the city. It does have an in-door pool and free WiFi.

After reading lots of reviews, decided to treat ourselves and stay here after 3 days at the desert. Big mistake!!!

Asked for a refurbished room on 14th floor as the reviews said. However, the room was very dated. Very disappointed. Asked twice if we got an updated room and they said yes?

This is a summary of our stay. You. Can could call me picky, but for U$120 in La Paz I expected more.

Dirty carpet
Hair on bath
1 barman working when there was a big party at the hotel. Had to wait 1 hour for a drink! ( Bad management, if you know three will be a party at the hotel you should have enough staff)
Barman served long drink cocktail on short glass and was shocked when I told him a long drink should be on a long glass ( after 3 days at the desert all I wanted was a tall glass for my long drink).
No spare toilet paper. Had to call 2x to ask for it and only brought 1 roll. Had to call the next day for more paper!!!
Bath drain not draining water - water overflow on bathroom floor.

For $120 night they should do better. Shame on you Radisson!

Hope this review helps other to avoid this costly mistake.

I do not usually use a chain hotel in my trip. Well, because of that reason, this review might be a little biased.

On the last day of my 14 day trip in Bolivia and Peru, I stayed at this Radisson Plaza to get recovered from the rough tours including 3-day Uyuni excursions. This hotel works as what I expected. We felt secured within this facility, had good foods, and could use hot water at anytime of the stay. Also the service is quite good. The guy in the reception desk was very kind and willing to help us on everything for our trip (such as taxi reservation, security information about the city, and attractions of La Paz).

Although, as others said, the room is somewhat old and no air conditioning, it is comfy and clean. Moreover, we had free wifi and free breakfast, which is not typical for this kind of chain hotel.

Finally, this hotel is located in business district. That means, it is somewhat off from the main attractions of La Paz. But thanks to the location, you could feel safe.

We stayed at the Radisson one night. The service of every staff member was great, they went out of their way to help you. One of the waiters even filled our cooler with ice before we left for Isla del Sol. The room was nice and big on the 9th floor with a big flat screen TV and about 50 channels. The channels came in fuzzy however. The bed was extremely comfortable and so were the pillows. The free wifi worked great in our room and we had no issues with the connection. The breakfast in the morning was also tasty. We did use the pool for about 30 minutes and we really liked it, it was heated and clean. The down side to this hotel is the decor, everything is out dated and the carpets should be changed everywhere. The tub also had problems draining properly. I would stay here again though just for the comfortable bed and pillows as well as the fast and free internet.
