We were told by our guide that this was a good place to have lunch.
She was right! We were startled when we saw that a three course meal was only 35 Bolivians ie $5USD. We expected an ordinary meal but were pleasantly surprised!
First course was a vegetable soup followed by your main course I chose a vegetarian lasagna which was scrumptious! My friend had pork in pepper sauce. This was followed by a light dessert of passionfruit sorbet and some creamy stuff which I couldn't figure out what it was.
We arrived early (12noon) and it was quite but by 1 it was packed with locals.
Recommended for a good , cheap and fresh meal in Bolivia.

I was taken here by colleagues and enjoyed the traditional Bolivian soup (chairo) the trout with Andean potatoes, selection of salads and the ambience. It is centrally located, near Plaza San Francisco, and a senior government minister came to eat with family while we were there on Suday. I returned with a friend one evening and the meal was again good - although the trout a lttle overdone this time. It is very good value, estpecially the set menu.

The first time we shared a cheese&meat and a trout tasting plate- all good quality & tasted great. Then the second time I had the llama with lima beans & mashed potato & my partner had the t-bone steak with purple potatos & lima beans. Both our meats were cooked perfectly & tasted great. Both meals came with a Roquefort sauce (blue cheese)...we've not had this before so not sure how it's suppose to taste but we didn't like it. La Casona also had a good range of beer & wine & the staff provided excellent service.

The food was dependable and tasty. The presentation was well done. It is a renovated carriage house from the 1600's and interesting inside. The waitservice was fine. We went back a few times and even took a large group - they accomodated us readily.

We checked the place early afternoon, meeting a group of backpackers who had eaten there several times. They raved about it especially deserts. Whilst not into deserts, we had a great meal with large portions (more than we could eat) and wine at value prices. Service unobtrusive, restrooms clean. Could ask for nothing more.
