Having read the reviews, I expected more. A large party just preceded us and , although it made for more atmosphere, it also altered the service. Our meal arrived in about 2 minutes or do it seemed after having waited maybe 15 minutes to be acknowledged. We should really have walked out, but our second choice restaurant for the evening, La Casona, was closed Sunday evening. I had a llama pepper steak which was ok, that's all. Ordered medium and it was more medium rare which I can manage, cold veg and a few fries. Husband had the pique macho I think it's called. Waiter asked him how spicy he wanted it and he said quite spicy. Arrived not spicy at all. Wine ok at 80bls. Great building though. Worth giving a try but try La Casona first

It was a pleasant surprise. The dish was very well prepared (chateau brion). The portion was good. The stake cooked well. It costed 60 bolivianos and it makes a good alternative to the Stake House (80-100Bs and a bit better). Decor is nice and staff attentive and friendly.

After going to this restaurant I was quite surprised there were not more reviews. It was recommended by a hostel where friends of ours were staying and I was a little dubious at first especially as there was no one there when we arrived nor even when our friends arrived at 7:30pm, later there were some more people that showed up. When ordering we were told no initially to couple of wines and beers as they must not have been available, this was a little off putting though we went with some recommendations on the meals from the waitress and we were not disappointed. I ordered the steak in pieces with spicy sausage, olives etc and it had a beautiful smokey flavour and the meat was really tender. The 2 boys had steaks with different sauces and they had the sand comment about the tenderness if the meat. Atmosphere was a little lacking due to the lack of people but the food was excellent. The friend of the owner also waited outside with us to help order a taxi which was nice as we were the last ones there.

Pan De Oro Restaurant where eating is just more than an experience ….. An authentic colonial house is the location for this beautiful restaurant right in the heart of La Paz ; just half a block from Plaza San Francisco. This charming restaurant known for its excellent traditional and international cuisine also offers entertainment famous for the folkloric music shows Pan de Oro is definitely a place to visit to enjoy a memorable dining experience.
