“Perfect location, loved the breakfast!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

Hard to find at first, this hostel is perfectly situated in the heart of La Paz near the Witches Market, numerous restaurants, the beautiful cathedral, shopping and more! The travel agent inside the hostel helped us to book the Barracuda Biking Tour which was the highlight of our trip. Although the wifi was slow and construction was taking place during our stay, the room was great & the breakfast was a big spread. They even made it available earlier to us so we could eat something before we embarked on our biking tour. I found the front desk staff to be super helpful and even notified us of the bad areas so we wouldn't wander there. It's a huge place with an elevator and we even got to choose which room we wanted. This place did not disappoint! Just be careful in the shower, it's so hot that it burns!

Room Tip: Stay higher up and get a view of the city skyline!

Stayed here for two nights. Room was on second level. Receptionist was very helpful. Gave us lots of info for where to go and what to do. Room was decent but was dated. Painted walls, small tv in the room with cable. We had a 4 bedroom private room with an ensuite. Hot water took about 5 minutes to get hot. The hostel was in a good location and was walking distance from most things.

Stayed as part of a tour group for 3 nights. The hostel is located close to the centre so a great base. Rooms were comfortable with all day hot water. Breakfast on fifth floor with city wide views. Good wifi. Would stay here again.

This hotel offers good rooms, great breakfast in a panoramic restaurant, all day hot water, free internet, cable TV and if you are lucky, heater in your room! We stayed for 6 days in late August and it was quite cold in the room till we asked for and got an electric heater.

It is a fabulously quirky place with all the rooms individually decorated with murals and Bolivian scenes - even the corridors are hand painted. The safe box in the bedroom works well, get a key from reception. Laundry service is okay, not expensive and more or less returned when they promise.

A travel-agent next door can help with any trips/flights, etc. and the surrounding area is vibrant and safe.

Room Tip: If you want to enjoy the street scenes, ask for a room at the front. After around 10pm, the street...

The location of the hostel is good. You can walk to the Witches Marked and the Prado by foot.
There is a lot going on on the street where the hotel is located, many people, many cars.. actually we did not feel very safe at night.

The staff at the hotel is really friendly. They always remember your room number, they gave us an opportunity to choose from several rooms.
They call you an official radio taxi if needed within minutes.
The lady who is responsible for breakfast is really very nice and has always a smile on her face.

The rooms were very dark to to the paintings on the wall, some might like them, I did not.
The bed was OK but a little bit small for two people. The TV was sooo small and so high up on the wall, that it was even not possible for the remote to change the TV channels, when lying in bed.
The Illampu St. is very busy and the hotel has very thin windows, so you can hear everything going on at nights. It was quite loud in our room.

The bathroom was dark red and had a electrical shower. There was not enough light to get prepared in the morning and there was no hook to hang the towels on.

Breakfast was kinda disappointing. They serve you the same 3 fruits every day and they look really fresh. Despite of the fruits they have two choices of cereals and bread. Cheese, cold meat, eggs can be ordered for a surcharge.
Unfortunately they do not clean after a guest and the tables are often dirty.

We stayed 5 nights here and I would really recommend the hotel.

Pros:
- Large rooms with nice painted murals
- Hot water
- Great location about 5min walking from the main tourist street Sarganaga. The walk felt very safe, including in the evening coming home from a restaurant
- The staff were very kind and helpful, ordering us official radio taxis, and even a Doctor for a hotel visit when my husband was ill
- We were able to check into the room straight away at 7am after coming off an overnight bus - bonus!
- Great breakfast - lots of variety and a mint view of La Paz :)

Cons:
- Wifi was weak inside our room - functional, but weak (too weak to skype) - it was better in the hotel lobby I think
- A little pricier than other options, but worth it

Stayed 3 nights. Breakfast average, location good, clean comfy rooms and alright wifi. Free tea coffee in reception and nice area to wait around in after checking out. Bode uyuni bus with todo turismo from in house travel agent and was perfect. Nice murals and tasteful decor. Small minibar at reception with items to purchase.
