“Wonderful, friendly service”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

We were booked to this tourist class hotel by our tour operator (Intrepid). We arrived a day before the tour started. Our room had sun exposure, which warmed it up during the day. There is no heat (standard at this low price), but the blankets were plenty warm and there is plenty of hot water. The people who staff the desk were very friendly and helpful, and their English was good. One clerk took a shoe to the repair shop and waited while it was fixed. Cleaning of the rooms leaves a little to be desired, but overall it was a great experience. La Paz is so different from U. S. and European cities, in terms of culture, altitude, and level of development. It was great to have the hotel staff provide such good support.

Room Tip: Ask for sun exposure to warm your room during the day.

We stayed here on the last day of our 15 day Intrepid tour. We found the hotel to be centrally located with large clean rooms and nice hot showers.

The staff were extremely helpful.

It is basic but excellent value for money.

Huge rooms, clean, run by a beautiful family... With a wonderful dog. We absolutely loved it there. And Bruno is a gem. He gave us hints about fun things to do as well as things to avoid. There's also a massage place in the building and tons of cheap shopping right outside the door. And a cafe like 20 steps away that is unbelievably delicious and cheap. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Our room was large and spacious having both a double and a single bed in it. While the décor was a bit dated, it was pleasant enough. We had a TV, desk and chair and ample size wardrobes. The windows offered views of the city and were screened with either coloured glass or curtains.

However, we found the double bed to be most uncomfortable; obviously the mattress was old and therefore lacked support, but the most annoying thing were the sheets. They were old and balled and extremely uncomfortable. The pillows were also old and very lumpy and not at all usable.

The bathroom was spacious but an inadequate shower curtain meant that the shower splashed onto the floor resulting in a wet mess.

The breakfast was fairly basic consisting of cereal, juice, rolls, butter and jam with coffee.

We found the reception staff to be friendly and accommodating.

The hotel is situated in a good location with shops and markets nearby.

we were part of a 15day tour in Peru and the last night in La Paz we were booked at this hotel. Right outside San Francisco church, and 2 blocks away from witches market and lots of street/tourist shops selling local wares. lots of restaurants around corner, 1 currency exchange1/2 block and easy walk to anything needed.
Close to (10min) to central/'pedestrian' street-sorry can't remember name but which our guide walked us down during day. nothing exciting to buy from street sellers and guide said be very careful of pickpocketers on this 1 area)
Outside door to hotel with a couple couches, up about 10stairs to lobby with reception desk, computer you can use for free. elevator just around corner, stairs also but bit darker.
on 2nd floor is huge area and was being used as breakfast area. breakfast was bread/jam/butter as usual with yoghurt/granola and juices/tea/coffee - server to assist and bring out hot drinks.
Our room on 3rd floor. good size with 2 double beds and lots of room to move around. bathroom decent size and hotel had hot water, no heat in rooms.(3-4* hotels in peru/lima none had heat) found bed and pillows comfortable but didn't figure out how to work tv running thru dvd, didn't have time/care to ask for help. night lamps beside each bed as well as lights above each bed.
location, size good and would stay again.
We left on a Saturday at 2pm and got to airport in 30min.

Not sure where the "palace" in its name came from. The Eva Palace hotel in La Paz is fairly basic accommodation that is good for a short stay. The hotel is across the road from the San Francisco church and close to shops, tour companies and restaurants. The rooms are very big (ours had three beds!) and the bathrooms are functional (although the shower curtain was too short resulting in a soaked floor). The included breakfast is pretty bad (watered down juice, jam and bad coffee). But staff were helpful and it was a good place to stay for a short time in La Paz.
