“the view!”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

It's ALL ABOUT THE VIEW!
It's also a restaurant, but we went there only to see the sunset.
The problem was that everyone in Punta decided to go at the same time and it was crowded.
During the high season (dec, jan, feb) the sun sets at +-8-9pm. I recommend you to go aroud 6-7pm so you will be able to go "inside".

“nice little visit to an interesting place”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

We cycled there from Punta del Este rather than doing the official tour, but it was an interesting place to go to see the artists work, find out about him, and someone else I met even met the artist himself there! His family run the art gallery / gift shop where you can buy prints etc

“Kid friendly museum”
Reviewed January 16, 2014

This was surprisingly kid friendly, but you should note, not stroller friendly, as there are a lot of winding small staircases throughout. Pros: the paintings and sculptures are all brightly colored and interestingly shaped so little eyes are engaged around every corner. There is a pretty interesting movie to watch about the artists at the beginning. We only saw half though as it was just about the only thing the littles weren't interested in. Its also not very big so you can be in and out in under an hour, that is unless you stay for a drink in their cafe which offers lovely views of the ocean. Cons: some would say US 8$ per person (our kids are under 5 and they were free) was a bit much for such a small place. Also parking can be a bit tricky, and for real, you are not going to want to bring a stroller.

“Jewel of Uruguay”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

This is one of the most amazing places that I have been....
You'll feel like in a fairy tale....It's like a castle on the ocean....beautiful white walls, beautiful view...quiet place....not only as a hotel, as a place to visit.

“Don't leave Punta del Este without a visit to Casapueblo”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

This unique place close to Punta del Este is a must do when you are in Punta. You have never seen and visited such a building before (unless you were there last year). Viewing the collection of paintings and other art in the place that the now 90+ Carlos Paez Vilaro started constructing himself many years ago, is a great pleasure. If you have the opportunity to visit Casapueblo end afternoon and witness the sunset from the terrace (and understand Spanish) you will not regret and not forget. Carlos reads a (taped) poem on the sun every day just before sunset. Sitting there, dreaming away with your coffee or champagne, is a 5-star experience.
PS. Because of the nature of the building visitors have to take the many steps and stairs for granted.
