Typical place to take a picture and remember a place. Nothing very special, just a beach place in the crossroad of the "tourist center" and connection to the two main areas of the beach roads. Simply, easy to reach and a must for a photo.

The place is unique, however the whole area is very expensive, is where the Jet Set owns their homes. Before Punta del Este, you can enjoy an incredible number of beaches like Portezuelo, Piriapolis, La Pedrera and more, there everything is more natural without the flashy boutiques and the glamour of Punta.
I go back every January and is the real true Pearl of the Atlantic.

I wouldn't recommend this city because it's all made up for tourists, therefore the cultural experience is almost nonexistent.all the prices are way too high and everything just feels fake. If you want a nice Uruguayan experience in the sun, go to La Pedrera where you'll get I meet nice people!

Los Dedos or Playa del Ahogado...which literally means the beach of the drowned person is quite the spectacle and the spot for the quintessential Punta spot. It is the beginning of the Playa Brave- which means tough beach...why is it tough you ask? well it has much more exposure to the Atlantic Ocean than its contrary Playa Mansa (on the other side of the peninsula.
Playa Brava experiences higher winds and thus much larger waves. So if you are a good swimmer and like to body board/ surf and really "play" with the sea- this is your beach. If the ocean intimidates you...I would recommend taking your picture and mossying on over to the wimpy side...the side where you will find all the families with young kids...and much calmer waters...Playa Mansa.
Enjoy...and don’t forget your high SPF sunscreen. The wind will make it feel comfortable, but the sun is brutal and ozone layer much more depleted in these geographical areas. So wear your sunscreen with high SPF!

It is an unusual monment, a landmark in Punta del Este, very centric (at the end/beginning of Gorlero Avenue on the beach side, and a preferred stop for tourists and others to have the compulsory photo taken by one of those huge fingers.
